Sylvain, giovane cinefilo e solitario, è il gestore di un piccolo cinema di quartiere sull’orlo della bancarotta. Con grande dedizione si occupa dell’intera organizzazione, in qualità di responsabile della programmazione, proiezionista e cassiere e, in quegli stessi luoghi scalcinati e ombrosi, si è ricavato un seminterrato in cui vivere. Ogni notte, dopo l’ultimo spettacolo, si aggira per le strade della città e commette un omicidio… Dernière séance incorpora gli stilemi del film slasher e tesse un canto d’amore cinefilo che spinge alle estreme conseguenze l’illusione di “abitare” la realtà dei film visti e adorati, tanto da non riuscire più a distinguere tra finzione e realtà, tra cinema e vita reale.

Sylvain, a young and lonely cinephile, is the manager of a small neighborhood cinema on the verge of bankruptcy. With great dedication he takes care of the entire organization, as programming manager, projectionist and cashier and, in those same moldy and shady places, he has carved out a basement in which to live. Every night, after the last screening, he wanders the streets of the city and commits a murder...Dernière séance incorporates the stylistic features of slasher films and weaves a cinephilic love song that takes to the extreme the illusion of “living” the reality of the films "inhabiting" the reality of those films seen and revered, so much so that it is no longer possible to distinguish between fiction and reality, between cinema and real life.
