Incalzato dal regime stalinista, che vorrebbe richiamarlo in patria quanto prima, Eisenstein passa gli ultimi dieci giorni del suo viaggio nella cittadina di Guanajuato. Sarà qui, con la complicità della sua guida Palomino Cañedo, che scoprirà molte cose sul Messico ma anche sulla propria sessualità e identità di artista. In 1931, at the top of his career, the soviet director Sergei Eisenstein is in Mexico to shoot a movie. Pursued by the Stalinist's regime, which wishes to  recall him to his homeland as soon as possible, Eisenstein spends the last days of his trip in the small town of Guanajuato. It's here, with the complicity of his guide Palomino Cañedo, that he will discover many things about Mexico but also about his own sexuality and artistic identity.
