Le tante vite dell’attivista francese Thérèse Clerc, che prossima alla morte decide di lasciare a futura memoria la testimonianza di una vita vissuta in nome delle battaglie sociali e della libertà di scelta dell’individuo. Approdata al pensiero marxista dopo vent’anni di matrimonio passati da casalinga devota, sul finire degli anni ’60 Thérèse è in prima linea per il diritto all’aborto, all’uguaglianza sessuale e per i diritti degli omosessuali. Tramite i suoi racconti e quelli dei quattro figli, scopriamo il percorso che ha portato la donna da un’età “dell’innocenza” e dell’inconsapevolezza fino alla  completa coscienza di sé.

The many lives of French activist Thérèse Clerc, who decided, as her time drew near, to leave a testimony to posterity of a life fought beneath the banners of social justice and freedom of choice for all. Thérèse embraced Marxism after twenty years of marriage as a devoted housewife, finding herself on the frontline for abortion rights, sex equality and homosexual rights by the end of the 1960s. We learn, through hers and her four children’s stories, of the journey that led her from the age of innocence and blissful ignorance to her full social and critical consciousness.
