Lac Daumesnil è il racconto di un’affinità elettiva circondata da fantasmi lontani. Aurélien e il suo amico si muovono in un rigoglioso giardino botanico, discutono in riva a un lago pittoresco, esplorano un piccolo tempio neoclassico e filmano i loro giochi scherzosi con una videocamera che finisce però col registrare anche il lento emergere della loro fragilità.

Un film che cerca la bellezza in ogni cosa: nel vento che agita le foglie, nella musica orchestrale tenuta a fior di pelle, nello sfavillio lacustre dello specchio d’acqua e nei volti fascinosi dei protagonisti. Tale beatitudine è però attraversata dall’inconscio ottico della macchina da presa che, intorbidendo le immagini, rimanda ai mondi lontani e agli oscuri tormenti dei personaggi.

Lac Daumesnil is the story of an elective affinity surrounded by distant ghosts. Aurélien and his friend move around a lush botanical garden, discussing on the shores of a picturesque lake, exploring a little neoclassical temple near which they film their playful games with a camera that ends up recording the slow emerging of their fragility.

A film that seeks beauty in everything: in the wind that shakes leaves, in the orchestral music held on the edge, in the lake’s sparkling gleams and in their fascinating faces. This bliss, however, is crossed by the optical unconscious of the camera which, muddying the images, refers to distant worlds and dark torments.
