Nel 2017 l’amministrazione di Pechino decide d’intervenire sugli immobili abusivi a uso commerciale, rattoppando porte e finestre con mattoni che trasformano gli animati locali di prima in desolati muri. Il negozio della signorina Mi è uno dei pochi a resistere, anche se su di esso incombe la chiusura. Quello degli hutong, vicoli e stradine tipiche dei sobborghi, è il regno di Kacchan, studente che fotografa gli interventi edilizi e registra i mutamenti del quartiere. Mentre gli altri rapporti umani sembrano rendere Kacchan indifferente, l’incontro con la signorina Mi desta la sua curiosità.

Attraverso una messinscena ordinata e geometrica che accoglie il colore e articola le immagini in una commistione di realtà filmata, streaming live, fumetto e performance musicale, l’evoluzione urbana e sociale della Cina s’intreccia all’incontro dei due personaggi.

In 2017, the Beijing administration decides to intervene on illegal commercial properties, patching up doors and windows with bricks that transform the former lively shops into desolate walls. Miss Mi's shop is one of the few to resist, even if closure is hanging over it. That of the hutongs, alleys and narrow streets typical of the suburbs, is the kingdom of Kacchan, a student who photographs building interventions and records changes in the neighborhood. While other human relationships seem to make Kacchan feel indifferent, the meeting with Miss Mi arouses his curiosity.

Through an orderly and geometric staging that welcomes color and articulates images in a mixture of filmed reality, live streaming, comics and musical performance, the urban and social evolution of China intertwines with the meeting of the two characters.
