Arely è giunta a New York dal Messico. Ha compiuto un suo percorso identitario e adesso è un transessuale, per questa ragione riceve continue minacce dagli abitanti del Queens, uno dei quartieri della città. Fortemente cattolica, si avvicina al culto della Santa Muerte, creato dagli emerginati dalla società.

Il palpitante sentire dei fedeli è l’oggetto di questo film in bilico tra documentario e finzione, foderato da una messa in scena sontuosa per colori, costumi e trucco. La vicenda scandaglia il delicato rapporto omosessualità-fede e le tradizioni culturali messicane: tra spirito di abnegazione e puro spettacolo canoro, sfila una suggestiva galleria di maschere.

Arely is just arrived in New York from Mexico. She completed an identitary path and now she’s a transsexual, for this reason she is menaced constantly by Queens residents, one of the city’s neighborhood. Heavily catholic, she comes closer to a religious community which idolize the Santa Muerte, created by those marginalised by society.

The worshippers’ throbbing feeling is the object of this movie on the brink between documentary and fiction, covered of a lavish mise-en-scene for colors, costumes and make up. The sequence of the events plumbs the delicate relation between homosexuality-faith and Mexican traditions: between self-denial spirit and pure singing performance, parade a suggestive gallery of masks.
