Patrizia, transessuale napoletana, ha smesso di prostituirsi. L'età avanza e i segni di una vita di eccessi oramai marcano il suo volto. Trovatasi al margine, senza più sapere di cosa vivere, senza un posto dove stare, si lascia andare, raccontando del trauma che, ancora bambina, l'ha segnata per tutta la vita e della lotta che da sempre ha portato avanti per rivendicare, senza ipocrisie, la sua dignità.
Patrizia, Neapolitan transsexual, isn't a whore anymore. She's getting old and now the marks of an extreme life emphasize her face. Found herself at the edge, without knowing what to live with, without a place to stay, she let herself go, telling about the trauma wich, when she was a child, marked forever her life and the fight that she has always carried forward to claim, without hypocrisies, her dignity.
Bartolomeo Pampaloni, nato a Firenze nel 1982, si laurea in Filosofia con Sergio Givone con una tesi in “Estetica sulle origini della Filosofia occidentale ed i suoi legami con la mitologia e i culti arcaici”. Si forma come regista a Parigi, dove frequenta il corso di cinema all'Université Paris 8-St. Denis. Qui realizza i suoi primi cortometraggi e lavora su diversi set come video assist. Rientrato in Italia, viene selezionato al Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia di Roma dove frequenta il corso di Regia e lavora come assistente di Paolo Virzì nello spettacolo Se non ci sono altre domande. Attualmente è tornato a vivere a Parigi, dove ha montato il suo primo lungometraggio, Roma Termini.
Bartolomeo Pampaloni, born in Firenze in 1982, graduates in Philosophy with Sergio Givone with a thesis about the “Aesthetics about the origins of Western Philosophy and its bonds with mythology and archaic worships”. He develops as a director in Paris, where he attends the cinema course at the Université Paris 8-St. Denis. Here he realizes his first short movies and works as a video assist in various film sets. Came back to Italia, he is selected at Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome where he attends the Directing Course and works as an assistant with Paolo Virzì in the play called Se non ci sono altre domande. He is currently living in Paris, where he edited his first feature film, Roma Termini.

Claudia viaggia in autobus da Roma a Modica per provare a riconciliarsi con la sua fidanzata Anna. Rifiutata con freddezza, avvolta in un poncho e con degli occhiali enormi, se ne va a zonzo nel Duomo di San Giorgio. Più tardi quella sera un bell’uomo di nome Sandro le si avvicina mentre Claudia cerca di lenire le pene del suo cuore spezzato con un bicchiere di vino. Desiderando perdersi in una storia d'amore convenzionale in cui poter esprimere apertamente il proprio amore, Claudia si lascia andare a una fantasia. Il giorno seguente Sandro la porta nel centro storico di Siracusa e le racconta il mito di Aretusa, forzando involontariamente Claudia ad affrontare la realtà ed accettare di essere ciò che è.
On a quest to reconcile with her lover, Anna, Claudia travels from Rome to the Sicilian city of Modica by bus. Coldly rejected, cloaked in a poncho and large sunglasses, she roams into the Duomo di San Giorgio. Later that evening, a handsome man named Sandro approaches while Claudia nurses her broken heart with a glass of wine. Eager to lose herself in a conventional romance in which she can openly express love, Claudia slips into a fantasy. The following day, Sandro takes her to the historic city of Syracuse and tells her the myth of the nymph Arethusa, unwittingly forcing Claudia to face reality and accept who she is.
Giulio Poidomani è un regista e sceneggiatore modicano. Nel 2008 inizia la sua collaborazione presso la Jean Vigo Italia col regista Roberto Faenza e la produttrice Elda Ferri. Nel 2010, dopo aver frequentato il Master di Sceneggiatura per Cinema e Televisione presso l’Università La Sapienza di Roma si trasferisce in America, prima a New York e poi a Los Angeles, dove segue i corsi di regia della UCLA. I suoi corti approdano a svariati festival, tra cui l'Hollyshorts Film Festival di Los Angeles, il Rome International Film Festival e il New York City Independent Film Festival. Nel 2014 scrive e dirige la web serie What You Want?. Insieme alla compagna fonda la Purple Road Pictures e, dopo aver vinto il premio Mattador per la sceneggiatura di un lungometraggio dal titolo Crisci Ranni (ancora da realizzare), si sposta in Italia dove produce e dirige il cortometraggio Mai. Nel 2015 ritorna negli Stati Uniti per lo sviluppo di nuovi progetti.
Giulio Poidomani is an Italian director and screenwriter. Over the years he directed and produced several shorts, commercials, and music videos. Born in Sicily, he moved to Rome to study Film Studies & Entertainment. After graduation, he worked with Italian Director Roberto Faenza and Oscar Winner Producer Elda Ferri at their Production Company, Jean Vigo Italia. He also published the short novel La Signora Astolfi and worked for Web Magazine Cinemonitor.it. After getting a Master degree in Screenwriting, in 2010 he moved to USA where he wrote and directed several shorts, such as Disruption and Pots&Lids. In the past year he wrote the web series What You Want?, wrote and directed the short movie Never, and won the Italian Mattador award for the feature screenplay Crisci Ranni.

Il bosco come uno spazio isolato dentro la città, un luogo dove fuggire per ritrovarsi fuori dal clamore della città, una zona franca in cui chiunque ha asilo e tutti possono liberamente esprimersi. Armata di macchina da presa, Claire Simon in giro per il Bois de Vincennes parla con alcuni dei frequentatori abituali del bosco: dalla signora che decide di vivere nel bosco perché non sa più vivere in città alla squadra di rugby di ragazzini che si allena nei prati, dalla comunità cambogiana fuggita da Pol Pot che si riunisce nel fine settimana al responsabile dei piccioni del parco. Tutti raccontano un pezzo della loro vita e della loro relazione con questo pezzo di natura. Sullo sfondo, l’evocazione dell’esperimento universitario di Paris VIII, con la voce di Gilles Deleuze che risuona tra gli alberi.
The forest as an isolated space inside the city, a place where run away to find oneself outside of city’s glamour, a free zone in which anyone has shelter and everyone can express freely. Armed with a camera, Claire Simon speaks with some of Bois de Vincennes regulars; from the lady that decides to live in the woods because she doesn’t know how to live in the city anymore to the kids rugby team that trains in the fields, from the Cambodian community escaped from Pol Pot that gathers during the weekends to the park's pigeons responsible. Everyone recounts a piece of their life and their relation with this part of nature. On the background, the evocation of the academic experiment of Paris VIII, with the voice of Gilles Deleuze that resounds through the trees.
Claire Simon inizia la sua carriera come montatrice, per poi passare alla regia con una serie di cortometraggi, tra i quali la serie per la tv francese Scènes de ménage del 1992. Scopre la forma documentaristica in un workshop agli Ateliers Varan. Tra gli altri, Les Patients, Récréations e Coûte que coûte sono quelli a ricevere dei premi al festival Cinema du Reél e gli ultimi due vengono proiettati nelle sale. Nel 1997 presenta il suo primo lungometraggio di finzione, A foreign body, alla Quinzaine des Réalizateurs al Festival di Cannes, dove tornerà nel 2006 con Ça brûle e nel 2008 con Les bureaux de Dieu, con cui vince il premio SACD. Nel 2013 presenta in competizione al Festival di Locarno il film Gare du Nord, insieme al gemello Géographie Humaine, un lungo di finzione e un documentario entrambi sulla stazione Gare du Nord di Parigi. Le bois dont les rêves sont faits è il suo ultimo documentario, in uscita nei primi mesi del 2016. Sta attualmente lavorando alla post-produzione del suo ultimo film, Le concours.
Claire Simon starts her career in the film industry as an editor and then change to direction with a series of short movies, among which the 1992 French television series Scénes de ménage. She discovers the practice of documentary filmmaking at the Ateliers Varan workshops. Among others, Le Patients, Récréations and Coûte que coûte are those to receive awards at the festival Cinema du Réel and the last two had also a theatrical release. In 1997 she presents his first fiction feature film, A foreign body, at the Quinzaine des Réalizateurs in Cannes. Then she returns at the Quinzaine des Réalizateurs first with Ça brûle in 2006 and in 2008 with Les bureaux de Dieu that won the SACD prize. In 2013 she presents Gare du Nord in competition at the Locarno Film Festival as well as Géographie Humaine, a fiction feature film and a feature length documentary both about the Gare du Nord train station in Paris. Le bois dont les rêves sont faits is her last documentary, whose theatrical release is scheduled for early 2016. She is now working on her last movie, Le concours, which is currently in post-production.

Il film documenta e traduce il percorso di creazione dello spettacolo Aurora di Alessandro Sciarroni, la cui ricerca parte dal Goalball, sport praticato da non vedenti e ipovedenti. Cosimo Terlizzi, artista audiovisivo, affianca il coreografo per realizzare un’opera a sé: un film in cui i singoli atleti e le prove dello spettacolo diventano strumenti espressivi di nuovi paesaggi. Le figure che affiorano dall’intensità del buio della palestra, guidati solamente dai sonagli delle palle, mettono in scena una coreografia consegnando allo spettatore un’immagine di intensità e bellezza.
The film documents and translates the creation process of the show Aurora by Alessandro Sciarroni, inspired by Goalball, a sport played by blind and visually impaired. Cosimo Terlizzi, audiovisual artist, follows the choreographer in order to create an independent piece: a film where the rehearsals of the show and the athletes become the means of expression of new landscapes. The figures which emerge from the gym’s dark intensity, exclusively guided by the ball’s bells, stage a choreography delivering the audience an image of intensity and beauty.
Cosimo Terlizzi, nato a Bitonto nel 1973, è un artista italiano residente in Svizzera. Dalla metà degli anni Novanta, a Bologna, utilizza diversi media per il suo lavoro, dalla fotografia alla performance, alla video arte. Realizza anche cortometraggi, documentari e lungometraggi presentati in numerosi festival. Le sue opere sono state esposte in musei e gallerie quali il Centre for Contemporary Art di Varsavia, la Fondazione Merz di Torino, il MACRO di Roma, il Museo Nazionale di Breslavia in Polonia. In questi anni diversi focus sono stati dedicati alla sua opera: nel 2011 alla Mostra Internazionale del Nuovo Cinema di Pesaro, nel 2012 al Careof di Milano, nel 2013 al Sicilia Queer filmfest di Palermo e nel 2014 al Cineporto di Bari.
Cosimo Terlizzi, born in Bitonto in 1973, is an Italian artist based in Switzerland. From the mid-nineties, in Bologna, he develops his art works through the use of different media, from photography to performance and art video. He also realized short films and feature documentaries that were presented in many international film festivals. His works have been exhibited in museums and galleries such as the Centre for Contemporary Art in Warsaw, Fondazione Merz in Turin, the MACRO in Rome, the National Museum of Wroclaw in Poland. These last years, some retrospectives have been dedicated to his work, in 2011 at the Mostra Internazionale del Nuovo Cinema di Pesaro, in 2012 at Careof in Milan, in 2013 at the Sicilia Queer filmfest in Palermo and in 2014 at Cineporto in Bari.

50 anni dopo la guerra tra Francia e Algeria, 3 uomini francesi partono per l'Algeria in cerca delle proprie radici. Un padre alla ricerca della sua infanzia algerina, un amante di una tomba a Kabylia di un nonno mai conosciuto e un figlio alla ricerca di un nuovo legame tra loro… E c'è anche l'Algeria di ieri e di oggi. La nuit s'achève è un documentario che prova a dimenticare di esserlo. È sui rapporti familiari, sulle cose mai dette e sulla riconciliazione. Rivisitando con delicatezza il passato coloniale francese, il film ci rende consapevoli della situazione attuale e dei suoi problemi.
50 years after the war between Algeria and France, 3 french men come in Algeria in search of something of their roots. A father looking for his algerian childhood, a lover for the grave of an unknown grandfather in Kabylia and a son looking for new bonds between them... And there is also Algeria, the Algeria of yesterday and of today. La nuit s'achève is a documentary that tries to forget it's a documentary. It's about family, things left unsaid, and reconciliation. By revisiting in a sensitive way the colonial past of France, the film make us more aware about actual situation and issues.
Dopo la laurea conseguita a La Fémis (dipartimento di montaggio) nel 2002, e dopo parecchi lavori come assistente al montaggio (lavorando sui film di Jean-Paul Civeyrac e Manuel de Oliveira), Cyril Leuthy (Lorena, 1976) ha lavorato essenzialmente come un montatore, la maggior parte delle volte su documentari creativi. È anche il collaboratore principare di Philippe Béziat, di cui i film hanno un importante relazione con la musica. Béiat e Leuthy hanno lavorato insieme su più di venti film, inclusi tre lungometraggi. Leuthy ha anche lavorato al montaggio di alcuni film di Serge Bozon, Axelle Ropert e Laetita Masson. La nuit s'achève è il suo primo lungometraggio da regista.
Since he graduated from the Femis (Editing department) in 2002, and after several jobs as an assistant editor (working on films by Jean-Paul Civeyrac and Manuel de Oliveira), Cyril Leuthy (Lorraine, 1976) worked essentially as an editor, most of the time on creative documentaries. He is also the main collaborator of Philippe Béziat, whose films all have an important relation to music. Béziat and Leuthy worked together on over twenty films, including three feature films. Leuthy also worked on the editing of certain films by Serge Bozon, Axelle Ropert and Laetita Masson. La nuit s'achève is his first feature film as a director.

Alla fine del XVI secolo, Julien e Marguerite de Ravalet crescono dentro il castello normanno del padre, Signore di Tourlaville. I due si amano teneramente fin da bambini e, diventati adulti, il loro affetto si trasforma in una irrefrenabile passione. Per evitare uno scandalo all'interno della comunità di Tourlaville, il padre è quindi costretto ad esiliare Julien e dare in sposa Marguerite a un ispettore delle tasse. Ma le severe misure adottate nei loro confronti non fanno altro che accrescerne la passione. Condannati dalla società per il loro amore incestuoso, i due giovani decidono quindi di fuggire.
At the end of XVI century, Julien and Marguerite de Ravalet grow up inside their father's Norman castle, Lord of Tourlaville. They tenderly love each other since they were kids and, becoming adults, their fondness transforms into an uncontrollable passion. To avoid a scandal inside the Tourlaville's community, their father is then forced to exile Julien and to marry Marguerite to a tax inspector. Jackson Heights, Queens, New York City is one of the most ethnically and culturally assorted communities in the United States and the world. Frederick Wiseman is an american filmmaker and documentarian, born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1930. He began his career as director in 1967 and since then he directed more than 41 movies, among which there are only two fiction feature films, Seraphita's Diary (1982) and The Last Letter (2002). His art's importance was recognized thanks to various honors assigned through the years, among which the Dan David Prize for the cultural importance of the stories told by his movies in 2003, the George Polk Career Award, conferred annually by the Long Island University to honor his contribution to his journalism integrity and his investigative reports in 2006 and the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the 71st Venice International Film Festival in 2014.

È l’1 gennaio 1900, l’alba del nuovo secolo, e Olmo e Alfredo vengono alla luce nello stesso giorno: il primo è figlio di una modesta famiglia di contadini, il secondo appartiene a una ricca famiglia di proprietari terrieri. Olmo e Alfredo crescono insieme, giocano a raccogliere rane nei laghetti, si sdraiano sui binari del treno, corrono per la campagna emiliana. I due crescono, si sposano, vivono le conseguenze delle loro diverse condizioni sociali. Sullo sfondo la vita sociale e politica italiana del primo novecento: gli scioperi contadini, la prima guerra mondiale, il fascismo agrario fino al 25 aprile 1945, giorno della Liberazione. Prima parte del grande affresco del regista Bernardo Bertolucci sulla storia d’Italia.

Novecento - Atto II
Anni ’30, periodo fascista. I grandi proprietari terrieri, appoggiati dal regime fascista, vessano la comunità di braccianti agricoli attraverso le prepotenze di Attila, capo bracciante della famiglia di Alfredo. Ancora una volta Olmo e Alfredo vivono su due fronti contrapposti le vicende della storia, l’arrivo del giorno della Liberazione, quando i braccianti potranno vendicarsi dei loro aguzzini, Alfredo sarà processato e grazie all’intervento di Olmo, salvato da sicuro linciaggio. La seconda parte del film chiude la vicenda dei due amici, ormai riuniti in un rappacificato dopoguerra.

François è appena andato a vivere con la compagna Christine nella Vallée de Joux in Svizzera. Per mantenersi trova lavoro presso il piccolo giornale locale: dovrà tenere una rubrica di cinema e scrivere delle proiezioni dell'unico cinema del paese. Ma François non sa niente di cinema, e finirà col copiare di nascosto gli articoli della rivista Travelling per la quale scrivono critici cinematografici affermati. A Losanna, dove assisterà alle proiezioni per la stampa di alcuni film, incontrerà Rosa, critica rinomata. Tra i due s'instaurerà immediatamente una relazione perversa incentrata sull'amore per il cinema e il desiderio fisico.
François has just moved in with his partner Christine in the Vallée de Joux in Switzerland. He works as journalist in a small local newspaper. He writes a movie column on the screenings in the only cinema in town. But François knows nothing about movies and he will end up secretly copying all the articles for the review Travelling, a prestigious publication where renowned critics write. In Lausanne, where he attends some press screenings, he meets Rosa, famous critic. François and Rosa then start a perverse relationship centered on love for films and physical desire.

Nell'aprile del 1974 i giornalisti Joseph-Marie Cauvin e Julie Dujonc-Renens vengono inviati in Portogallo dalla Radio Suisse Romande per fare un reportage sugli aiuti della Svizzera ai paesi poveri. Cauvin è un giornalista di guerra che sta perdendo la memoria, Julie una convinta femminista: con loro Bob, un tecnico del suono prossimo alla pensione. Contro ogni previsione si imbatteranno in eventi di portata storica e si troveranno a documentare l’effetto della Rivoluzione dei Garofani sulle loro stesse vite. Mischiando stili filmici molto lontani fra loro, dal musical al cinema d'autore, Baier realizza una spassosa rilettura di uno dei momenti fondamentali della storia europea, riuscendo nel difficile compito di costruire una commedia politica. Il film, secondo volume della serie dedicata ai quattro punti cardinali dopo Comme des voleurs (à l’est), è stato presentato al Locarno Film Festival nel 2013.
April 1974, the journalists Joseph-Marie Cauvin and Julie Dujonc-Renens are sent to Portugal by Radio Suisse Romande to make a reportage about the Swiss aids to the poor countries. Cauvin is a war reporter who is losing his memory, Julie a true feminist: with them there's Bob, a sound technician close to retirement. Unexpectedly, they will live through historical events and report the consequences of the Carnation Revolution on their lives. Mixing several different filmic styles, from musical to authorial, Baier makes a funny reinterpretation of one of the most important moments in European history, succeeding in the hard task of making a political comedy. The film, the second volume of the series dedicated to the four cardinal points, after Comme des voleurs (à l’est), was presented at the Locarno Film Festival in 2013.

La vanité
David Miller è un anziano architetto svizzero che ha deciso di togliersi la vita ricorrendo alla pratica del suicidio assistito. Si reca in un vecchio motel, che aveva progettato egli stesso. Qui trova Esperanza, una vedova spagnola che conosce sin da giovane, e che il caso vuole sia l'addetta per portare a termine la procedura di suicidio assistito. Perché la procedura possa svolgersi regolarmente è necessario un testimone, ed è così che viene reclutato Treplev, immigrato irregolare che lavora come prostituto nella camera accanto. In una notte che si rivelerà densa e lunga nulla andrà come previsto. Presentato all’interno del programma ACID del Festival di Cannes 2015, il film è stato nominato al Prix Lumières 2016 nella categoria miglior film francofono.
David Miller is an old Swiss architect, who decided to commit suicide through the assisted suicide practice. He goes to a motel, he designed himself. There he meets Esperanza, a Spanish widow, that he has known all his life and who is the designed assistant to complete the assisted suicide practice. Since a witness is need for the procedure to be regular, they hire Treplev, an illegal immigrant who works as a prostitute in the next room. In a dense and long night nothing will go as planned. The movie was nominated for the Prix Lumières 2016 in the best francophone movie category at the Cannes Festival in 2015.

Loïc è un ragazzo che vive a Bulle, nel cantone svizzero di Friburgo. La sua vita è scandita tra il lavoro in una fabbrica di cioccolato e le serate spese in incontri occasionali con uomini conosciuti in chat. Più che stupido Loïc è incolto e pigro, e la sua curiosità indolente viene appagata solo mediante i mezzi più semplici e immediati. Oltre agli uomini che frequenta, nella vita di Loïc è presente anche Marie, amica verso la quale nutre un affetto ambiguo, fatto di tenerezza e autolesionismo. Un incidente occorso a Marie e l'incontro con un calciatore spezzerà la routine del protagonista. Primo lungometraggio di finzione di Lionel Baier, Garçon stupide è diventato immediatamente un film cult della cinematografia gay.

Le ansie generate da questo strano triangolo si uniranno alle ostilità del quartiere, veicolate dal vicino mentalmente disturbato, un aggressivo figuro soprannominato Il Vescovo. Nasty Baby è stato presentato in anteprima mondiale al Sundance Film Festival nel gennaio del 2015 e nello stesso anno ha vinto il Teddy Award come miglior film al Festival di Berlino.
Freddy is a performance artist from Brooklyn who is working on a short movie called Nasty Baby. He and his fiancée Mo are trying to have a baby with the help of their friend, Polly. However, Freddy's failed attempts as a donor push Mo, already dubious about fatherhood, to take his place. The anxieties generated by this strange triangle collide with the hostility generated by their mentally disturbed neighbour, an aggressive character named The Bishop. Nasty Baby premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2015, and it won the Teddy Award as Best Movie at the Berlinale that same year.
Sebastián Silva è un regista, sceneggiatore e musicista cileno. Sebastián Silva is a Chilean director, writer, and musician. Born in Santiago in 1979, he began studying cinema at the Escuela de Cine de Chile and then moved to Canada where he studied animation. Disappointed by an unsuccessful and frustrating period in Hollywood, Silva returned to Chile. There, he directed La vida me mata, written with his friend Pedro Peirano, which won the prize for the best movie at the Chilean Pedro Sienna Awards in 2008. In the same year, again with Peirano, he wrote and directed his second feature film, La nana. The arrival of a mysterious new neighbour makes Rita’s heart beat and inspires her to indulge in daydreams about life and the world. Adolescence and the dream of impossible love turn a quiet Lisbon neighbourhood in a magical and amazing place, like a Malaysian island in the heart of the Pacific Ocean. João Nicolau è nato a Lisbona nel 1975. Lavora come regista, montatore, attore e musicista, ed è stato assistente di João César Monteiro. Ha diretto A Espada e a Rosa (2010), John From (2015) e i corti Rapace (2006), Canção de Amor e Saúde (2009), O dom das lágrimas (2012) e Gambozinos (2013). I suoi film sono stati proiettati in importanti festival quali Cannes, Venezia, Locarno, San Paolo, Vienna e il BAFICI.
João Nicolau was born in Lisbon in 1975. He works as a director, editor, actor, and musician, and he was João César Monteiro’s assistant. He directed feature films including The Sword and the Rose (2010) and John From (2015) and the shorts Bird of Prey (2006), Song of Love and Health (2009), The Gift of Tears (2012), and Wild Haggis (2013). His films are regularly shown in prestigious film festivals including Cannes, Venice, Locarno, São Paulo, Vienna, and BAFICI.

Quest'anno, per il suo diciassettesimo compleanno, Henry ha deciso di organizzare una festa in piscina coi suoi cari. Ci sono proprio tutti: il suo migliore amico Gabe, suo padre Bob, pastore della chiesa di quartiere, sua madre Kat, tormentata dalla crisi di mezz'età, sua sorella Autumn, di ritorno dal college per festeggiare il fratello, gli amici di scuola e di catechismo. Sono venuti perfino i collaboratori di Bob, con figli, mogli e mariti. E poi c'è Logan, un ragazzo silenzioso che pare condividere un segreto con Henry e dal quale lo stesso Henry sembra scappare. Tra i riflessi dell'acqua della piscina, in mezzo a un tuffo e una nuotata però, i due ragazzi non saranno gli unici a nascondere un segreto e presto le verità di tutta la comunità parrocchiale verranno a galla increspando quel mare di rettitudine in cui tutti sembravano naufragare.
For his 17th birthday this year, Henry decided to organize a pool party with his friends. Everyone was there: his best friend Gabe, his father Bob, also the minister at the local church, his mother Kat, tormented by a midlife crisis, his sister Autumn, back from college to celebrate with her brother, and friends from school and catechism cless. Bob's co-workers also came to the party, bringing with them their sons, wives, and husbands. And then there's Logan, a quiet boy who seems to share a secret with Henry but from whom Henry also seems to run away. In the midst of diving and swimming amongst the pool's watery reflections, it is revealed that the two boys are not the only ones hiding a secret. Soon, the truth of the entire parish community will out, eventually tearing apart the self-righteousness in which everyone seems to drown.
Stephen Cone è un regista, docente e attore che lavora a Chicago. Il suo film del 2011, The Wise Kids, è stato mostrato in oltre 50 festival in giro per il mondo, vincendo 8 premi, tra i quali l'Outfest Grand Jury Prizes per l'Outstanding US Feature and Outstanding Screenwriting, ricevendo critiche entusiastiche.
Stephen Cone is a Chicago-based filmmaker, professor, and actor. His 2011 feature film, The Wise Kids, was screened at more than fifty festivals worldwide. It won eight awards, including the Outfest Grand Jury Prizes for Outstanding US Feature and Outstanding Screenwriting, and received enthusiastic reviews.

Ben è un uomo francese di quarantacinque anni che vive a Phnom Penh, in una Cambogia ancora infestata dai fantasmi dei crimini compiuti dai Khmer Rossi. Di sera Ben diventa Mirinda, travestita e prostituta al Blue Bar. Un giorno la sua vita cambia improvvisamente: Viri, il suo compagno, sparisce e nella sua vita entra Panna Nat, una ragazzina con la quale dovrà intraprendere un viaggio attraverso il paese asiatico alla ricerca della famiglia di lei. Le circostanze lo porteranno a scoprire un sentimento paterno fino ad allora sconosciuto. De l’ombre il y a è un film lontano da una retorica affettata, racconta di un’umanità che nasce dal dolore e dall’orrore di esistenze ai margini, un soffio di aria fresca per un’opera piena di fascino e di cruda bellezza.
Ben is a forty-five-year-old French man who lives in Phnom Penh, in a Cambodia still haunted by ghosts of the crimes committed by the Khmer Rouge. At night, Ben becomes Mirinda, a transvestite prostitute at the Blue Bar. One day his life suddenly changes: his partner Viri disappears, and Panna Nat enters his life. He undertakes a journey across the Asian countryside with her in search of her family. These circumstances lead him to discover a previously-unknown paternal sentiment. De l’ombre il y a is a film without affected rhetoric. It tells the story of a humanity born from the sorrow and horror of an existence lived at the borders. The film is a breath of fresh air, a work full of charm and raw beauty.

Brasile, 2033: mentre in tutto il mondo non fa che aumentare il numero di accattoni, nella piccola cittadina di Batguano imperversa una malattia causata dall'ormai incontrollabile mole di escrementi di pipistrello e di barboni sparsi per tutta la città. A ridosso dell'autostrada, ospiti di un vecchio camper, vivono gli ormai attempati Batman e Robin che passano la loro vita di coppia guardando vecchi film o reinterpretando la routine da giustizieri della notte a bordo di una decappottabile scolorita. I due sognano di abbandonare la Terra per trovare il loro posto in galassie distanti ma per farlo hanno bisogno di soldi e per ottenerli decidono di mettere all'asta il braccio amputato di Batman.
Brazil, 2033: as the homeless population increases all over the world, a disease caused by an uncontrollable amount of bat excrement and homeless people spreads in the little town of Batguano. Batman and Robin, no longer in their prime, live in an old shed by the freeway. They spend their life together watching old movies or acting out their former roles as caped crusaders in a faded convertible. The two dream of leaving Earth to find a home in a distant galaxy. To do so, they need money, which they decide to obtain by auctioning off Batman's amputated arm.
Tavinho Teixeira è nato a Paraíba, Brasile, nel 1965. È stato performer, scrittore e regista in vari luoghi e diversi momenti della sua vita. Si è formato come attore e filmmaker studiando Stage Acting alla CAL a Rio de Janeiro nel 1995. La sua carriera nel mondo del cinema ha inizio negli anni ’90, mentre nel 2011 debutta come regista con il lungometraggio Luzeiro Volante. Del 2012 è il cortometraggio Púrpura.
Tavinho Teixeira was born in Paraíba, Brazil in 1965. He has worked as a performer, writer, and director in various places during different periods in his life. To become an actor and filmmaker, Tavinho studied stage acting at CAL in Rio de Janeiro in 1995. His film career began in the nineties, and in 2011 he made his debut as a director with the feature film Luzeiro Volante. His short movie Pùrpura came out in 2012.

Tobias e DeBottle, amici da una vita, sono un classico caso di adolescenza mai finita: fanno festa, bevono e si danno alla pazza gioia come una coppia di stupidi ragazzini. Sono insieme da sempre, tra alti e bassi, e non passano mai un giorno separati. Tobias finalmente, superati i quaranta anni, e con moglie, figli e un lavoro, capisce che la sua amicizia con DeBottle non ha più senso e decide che è arrivato il momento per i due di separarsi. Ma anche per questo sarà troppo tardi.
Tobias and DeBottle are life-long friends and classic cases of arrested development; they still party, drink and self-destruct like dumb teenagers. They have been through life's ups and downs together and have never spent a day apart. But now, Tobias is in his mid-40s, and he has a wife, a family, and his own business. Realizing that his friendship with DeBottle is no longer good for him, he decides that the moment has come for the two to part ways, but it is already too late.
Axel Ranisch nasce nel 1983 a Berlino. A undici anni entra nel Literaturwerkstatt Pegaso Club, dove si innamora della musica classica. Studia Teatro presso il Brandenburg DGB Youth Education Center, presso il quale si diploma nel 2004 e tra il 2004 e il 2011 presso la HFF "Konrad Wolf" di Potsdam. Esordisce come direttore della fotografia per un programma televisivo del sabato sera, Berlin sucht den Circusstar 04. Attore e regista, dopo aver recitato in numerosi cortometraggi debutta alla regia con Dicke Mädchen, cui seguono nel 2013 Ich fühl mich Disco e Reuber, e nel 2015 Alki Alki.
Axel Ranisch was born in Berlin in 1983. When he was eleven, he joined the Literaturwerkstatt Pegaso Club, where he developed a passion for classical music. He studied theater at the Brandenburg DGB Youth Education Center, where he graduated in 2004. Between 2004 and 2011, he studied at the HFF "Konrad Wolf" in Potsdam. He started his career as the director of photography for a Saturday-evening broadcast, Berlin sucht den Circusstar 04. He is an actor and director. After acting in many short movies, he made his directorial debut with Dicke Mädchen, followed in 2013 by Ich fühl mich Disco e Reuber, and in 2015 by Alki Alki.
