Dopo un anno dalla morte del padre, Victor torna a Buenos Aires e cerca di ricostruire i pezzi della sua vita amorosa, una vita che aveva abbandonato all’improvviso e che forse ora vuole riconquistare. Nel frattempo, pianifica la realizzazione di un radiodramma su Pene d’amor perdute di Shakespeare.
In equilibrio sottile e ironico fra sentimentalismo e cerebralità, La princesa de Francia si propone l’ambizione di coniugare solennità e scherzo, assecondando i mille rivoli del destino dei suoi protagonisti. Questo trasforma la vita, dentro il film di Piñeiro, in un tranello di giochi, pieno di invenzioni visive e di intrufolamenti curiosi in luoghi e tempi sacri (i musei, la musica di Felix Mendelssohn) che vengono rimaneggiati con un savoir faire che viene direttamente dalla nouvelle vague francese.

A year after his father’s death, Victor returns to Buenos Aires and tries to rebuild the pieces of his love life, a life that he had suddenly abandoned and that perhaps he now wants to regain. In the meantime, he plans to make a radio drama about Shakespeare Love’s Labour’s Lost.
In a subtle and ironic balance between sentimentality and cerebrality, The Princess of France aims to combine solemnity and joke, supporting the thousand rivulets of the destiny of its protagonists. This transforms life, within Piñeiro’s film, into a trap of games, full of visual inventions and curious intrusions into sacred places and times (such as museums or Mendelssohn’s music) which are reworked with a savoir faire that comes directly from the French Nouvelle Vague.
