Sotto la superficie di un’esistenza apparentemente felice, Mrs. Fairytale patisce le violenze del marito, trovando conforto nell’affetto per la cagnetta Lady e nei tentativi di attrarre la sua migliore amica, Mrs. Emerald.

Nata da una pièce teatrale diretta da Filippo Timi (protagonista e vero mattatore di ogni scena), questa colorata commedia ammicca a Lontano dal Paradiso di Todd Haynes, diventando sfrenata parodia del genere melò. Trucco, scenografia e recitazione sono continuamente sopra le righe, in un pastiche che tiene insieme l’intuizione di Richard Yates, il trasformismo di I Want To Break Free dei Queen e la leggerezza di Vita da Streghe.

Under the surface of a seemingly happy existence, Mrs. Fairytale suffers from her husband’s violence, finding comfort in the affection for her little dog Lady and her attempts in attracting her best friend, Mrs. Emerald.

Born from a theatrical piece directed by Filippo Timi (protagonist and true star of the film), this colorful comedy winks at Todd Haynes’ Far from Heaven, becoming an unbridled parody of old-school melodramas. Makeup, set design and acting are incessantly over-the-top, a pastiche that holds together the insight of Richard Yates, the transformism of Queen’s I Want to Break Free music video and the facetiousness of Bewitched.
