Uno scambio, tra Palermo e Parigi, tra un regista che firma un autografo e il destinatario che lo riceve, mentre ascolta un estratto del suo film preferito. Girato a margine del Sicilia Queer filmfest, dove Paul Vecchiali era presidente di giuria nel 2013, L’autographe è una meditazione sugli sconfinamenti, sul cinema e sulle sue immagini che continuano a rimbombare nella testa e nel cuore di chi lo ama, anche quando la proiezione è ormai terminata. Un omaggio sentito a Paul Vecchiali, scomparso nel gennaio di quest’anno, e alla potenza imperitura del cinema. “Nessuno muore”, dice la protagonista di Corps à cœur – ed è proprio la morte renderlo a lei chiaro – così come non muore la memoria e l’opera di un grande cineasta.

An exchange, between Palermo and Paris, between a director who signs an autograph and his recipient who receives it, while listening to an excerpt of his favorite film. Shot on the sidelines of the Sicilia Queer Film Festival of Palermo where Paul Vecchiali was president of the jury, L'autographe is a meditation on trespassing, on cinema and its images that continue to reverberate in the heads and hearts of those who love it, even when the screening is now over. A heartfelt tribute to Paul Vecchiali, who passed away in January this year, and to the imperishable power of cinema. "Nobody dies", says the protagonist of Drugstore Romance, and it is death that makes it clear to her, just as the memory and work of a great filmmaker will never die.

È autore di un corpus di opere che spazia nei campi della fiction, del documentario e del cinema sperimentale. Divide il suo lavoro tra progetti personali, insegnamento e collaborazioni come direttore della fotografia e montatore. Mentre studiava arte e cinema, ha iniziato a realizzare saggi in Super 8 e video in cui mescolava diari filmati e fiction. All'età di vent'anni si avvicina alla danza contemporanea e collabora con coreografi come documentarista e come ballerino. Nel 1997 è stato residente a Le Fresnoy, Studio national des arts contemporains di Tourcoing. Nel 2004, grazie a una borsa di studio "Villa Médicis hors-les-murs" dell'AFAA, ha diretto il lungometraggio Celui qui aime a raison in Brasile. Questa esperienza ha segnato un interesse per la rappresentazione della città e dell'architettura che si è sviluppato con L’Italie (2012) e Borobudur (2015). Tutte le sue opere audiovisive legate alla danza sono state depositate in un archivio del Centre national de la danse di Pantin (CN D) nel 2021.

He is the author of a work that covers the fields of fiction, documentary and experimental cinema. He divides his activity between personal projects, teaching and collaborations as a cinematographer and editor. As soon as he studied art and cinema, he made essays in Super 8 and in video where he mixed filmed diaries and fictions. At the age of twenty, he got closer to contemporary dance and collaborated with choreographers as a documentarian and as a dancer. In 1997, he is resident at the Fresnoy, Studio national des arts contemporains in Tourcoing. In 2004, thanks to a grant from the Villa Médicis hors-les-murs of the AFAA, he directed the feature film Celui qui aime a raison in Brazil. This experience marked an interest in the representation of the city and architecture that developed with L’Italie (2012) and Borobudur (2015). All of his audiovisual works related to dance have been deposited in an archive at the Centre national de la danse in Pantin (CN D) in 2021.
