Medio Oriente, 2006. In un campo di prigionia gestito dal reggimento di una potente coalizione internazionale, i soldati passano il tempo sorvegliando e torturando i prigionieri. Tra questi un pericolosissimo terrorista, recluso in una cella di massima sicurezza, un oscuro buco scavato nelle profondità del terreno sabbioso. I soldati del campo lo chiamano Il Profeta, perché passa le sue giornate preannunciando la fine di ogni dolore, guerra, malattia e l'avvento di una nuova era, il regno in terra di un dio sconosciuto e invisibile che spazzerà via i corrotti che governano il mondo. Una giovane soldatessa, figliastra e nipote del comandante del reggimento, si infatua perdutamente di questa figura misteriosa. La sua diventa un'ossessione che la spinge a imboccare una strada che cambierà il destino di tutti.
Una rilettura contemporanea della Salomé di Oscar Wilde, un film diviso in due atti che tocca questioni politiche senza dimenticare l’indissolubile nesso che lega Eros e Thanatos, desiderio e violenza.

Middle East, 2006. Inside a prison camp managed by a regiment of a powerful international coalition, soldiers spend time guarding and torturing the prisoners. Among them a dangerous terrorist, locked up in a maximum security cell, an obscure pit digged in the depth of a sandy field. The soldiers of the camp call him The Prophet, because he spends his days forewarning the end of any pain, war, illness and the arrival of a new era, the reign on the earth of a unknown and invisible god that will wipe out the corrupt who rule the world. A young soldier, step-daughter and niece of the regiment’s commander, desperately fall in love of this mysterious figure. Hers becomes an obsession that pushes her to take a road which will change everyone’s destiny.
A contemporary interpretation of Oscar Wilde’s Salomé, a movie divided in the acts which touches political questions without forgetting lasting link between Eros and Thanatos, desire and violence.

Regista catalano, autore poliedrico del panorama iberico contemporaneo, vive e lavora a Barcelona, dove ha fondato la casa di produzione Eddie Saeta. Figura tra le più audaci di produttori indipendenti del cinema contemporaneo, ha lavorato con registi celebri come Manoel de Oliveira, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Lisandro Alonso, Albert Serra, Jose Luis Guerin, Naomi Kawase, Javier Rebollo, Marc Recha, Sergio Caballero e molti altri. Nel 2014 ha diretto il suo primo lungometraggio, Stella cadente, film su Amedeo d’Aosta presentato in Italia al Torino Film Fest. Love Me Not, girato in Messico e suo secondo lungometraggio da regista, ha esordito all’International Film Festival di Rotterdam nel 2019 ed è stato scelto come film d’apertura della quinta edizione di Filmadrid.

Catalan director, multifaceted author of contemporary Iberic panorama, he lives and works in Barcelona, where he founded the production house Eddie Saeta. One of the boldest independent producers of contemporary cinema, he worked with famous directors such as Manoel de Oliveira, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Lisandro Alonso, Albert Serra, Jose Luis Guerin, Naomi Kawase, Javier Rebollo, Marc Recha, Sergio Caballero and many others. In 2014 he directed his first feature, Falling Star, movie about Amedeo of Aosta, presented in Italy during the Torino Film Fest. Love Me Not, shot in Mexico and his second feature as a director, premiered at the Rotterdam International Film Festival in 2019 and It was selected as open movie of Filmadrid 5th edition.
