Lascia che ti guardi, lascia che ti tocchi
La mostra, prevista all’interno della sezione Eterotopie del Sicilia Queer filmfest 2018, traccia un focus sulla scena artistica contemporanea di Beirut rispetto al tema dei diritti delle persone lgbt.

Uno sguardo rivolto al mondo intimo della città: amori proibiti, clandestini, desiderio. Un mondo in cui la nozione di “Queer” riprende il significato di una celebrazione del corpo, indipendentemente dall’orientamento sessuale. Un corpo che rivendica la libertà di essere amato e desiderato. Tra la Sicilia e Beirut c’è il Mediterraneo. Un mare che flirta con i nostri corpi, un amore proibito che può causare la morte. “Lascia che ti guardi, lascia che ti tocchi” è un appello per il mare e per i corpi. La scena artistica contemporanea di Beirut è la scena più sviluppata del Medio Oriente. Ha conosciuto, soprattutto dagli anni ’90, un’evoluzione significativa e una presenza importante sulla scena internazionale. ‘Lascia che ti guardi, lascia che ti tocchi‘ è una mostra che presenta opere di artisti che hanno iniziato a lavorare intorno agli anni ’90 come Dima El Horr, in conversazione con la nuova generazione di artisti come Mazen Khaled, Randa Mirza, Lara Tabet, Maria Kassab, Raafat Majzoub e Roy Dib. La mostra opere di media diversi, come video, dipinti, film e installazioni: uno sguardo rivolto al mondo intimo della città. Corpi di uomini nudi che si bagnano nel Mediterraneo e altri che danzano tutta la notte. Un sussurro proibito tra amanti e una fuga verso gli spazi nascosti del desiderio. Un mondo in cui la nozione di “Queer” riprende il significato di una celebrazione del corpo, indipendentemente dal suo orientamento sessuale. Un corpo che si cerca di vedere e di toccare. La mostra è inserita negli eventi collaterali di Manifesta 12 Palermo.

Let me watch you, let me touch you
The exhibition, foreseen in the Eterotopie section of Sicily Queer Filmfest 2018, draws a focus on the contemporary art scene of Beirut among to the theme of the rights of LGBT people. A look at the intimate world of the city: forbidden love, clandestine love, desire. A world in which the notion of “Queer” takes up the meaning of a celebration of the body, regardless of sexual identity. A body that claims the freedom to be loved and desired. Between Sicily and Beirut, there is the Mediterranean. A sea that flirts with our bodies, a forbidden flirt that might cause death. ‘Let me watch you, let me touch you’ is a call for the sea but for the bodies too.
The contemporary art scene of Beirut is the most developed scene in the Middle East. It has witnessed, especially from the 90’s, an important evolution and had gained a big presence on the international scene. ‘Let me watch you, let me touch you’ is an exhibition that presents works by artists who started working in the 90’s like Dima E Horr in discussion with artists from a younger generation like Mazen Khaled, Randa Mirza, Lara Tabet, Maria Kassab, Raafat Majzoub and Roy Dib. With different mediums like videos, photography, films, and installations, it offers a voyeuristic gaze on an intimate Beirut. Men’s bodies swimming in the Mediterranean and others dancing all night. A forbidden whispering between lovers, and an escape to hidden spaces of desire. A universe where the notion of ‘Queer’ readapt the sense of celebrating the body no matter what its sexual orientation is. A body that we want to watch and touch.
