Tunisia, estate 2010, pochi mesi prima della Rivoluzione. Farah è una ragazza energica e vitale, canta in un gruppo rock politico e non ama particolarmente le regole. I genitori vorrebbero che studiasse medicina ma lei preferisce divertirsi ed andare a spasso la notte con i suoi amici ed il suo ragazzo. Le sue canzoni parlano di libertà e di emancipazione e la sua voce risuona forte nei bar e nei pub tunisini. C'è però a chi non fa troppo piacere sentire i suoi testi ma Farah non da peso né alle minacce né ai disperati consigli di sua madre. Del resto, Farah ama cantare. Her parents would like her to study medicine but she prefers to have fun going around at night with her friends and her boyfriend. Her songs talk about freedom and emancipation and her voice resounds loud in Tunisian bars and pubs. There are also those who doesn't like to listen to her lyrics but neither threats nor her mother’s desperate advice seem to bother Farah. She loves to sing after all. Leyla Bouzid è nata a Tunisi nel 1984. Nel 2003 si trasferisce a Parigi per studiare, prima letteratura francese alla Sorbona e, in seguito, regia alla Fémis. Nel 2011 dirige il film di diploma, Mkhobbi fi kobba, a Tunisi, pochi mesi prima della rivoluzione. Successivamente decide di girare, nel sud della Francia e con attori non professionisti, Zakaria. Questi due cortometraggi ricevono numerosi premi e una calda accoglienza nei festival francesi e internazionali. A peine j'ouvre les yeux è la sua opera prima. Leyla Bouzid was born in Tunis in 1984. In 2003 she moved to Paris to study, first French litterature at the Sorbonne and then filmmaking at the Fémis. In 2011 she directed her graduation film, Mkhobbi fi kobba, in Tunis, a few months after the revolution. Later she decided to shoot, in the south of France with unprofessional actors, Zakaria. These two short movies have received many prizes and a warm reception in international and French festivals. A peine j'ouvre les yeux is her first feature film.
