L’infanzia sta ormai volgendo al termine: Lina ha dodici anni e il suo corpo sta cambiando. Crescendo, deve iniziare a prendere decisioni circa la sua identità, che andranno contro i desideri della madre e il tradizionale buon senso. Si veste e si comporta da “maschio”, giocando a calcio con i ragazzi del quartiere, che la accettano così com’è. La madre Claudia, però, non ci riesce, e critica continuamente il suo aspetto, costringendo Lina ad indossare un vestito da “ragazza” per una festa . Piena di vergogna, Lina fugge dalla festa e si dirige verso la piscina. Il tuffo nell’acqua rappresenterà un momento di liberazione, dal vestito e dall'autorità della madre.

Childhood is coming to an end: twelve-year-old Lina is growing up and her body is changing. She must start making decisions about her identity which will go against her mother’s wishes and the traditional common sense. She looks and behaves in a masculine way and she plays football with the neighbourhood boys, who accept her as she is. Her mother Claudia, however, does not, and constantly criticizes her looks. She forces Lina to wear a dress to a party at the club. Ashamed, Lina runs away from the party and heads towards the swimming pool. She jumps in and frees herself from the dress and her mother’s authority.
