Viola, Cecilia, Agustín, Javier, Sabrina. Una storia di attrici e di uomini, un labirinto di intrighi sentimentali, mentre sullo sfondo, ma forse neanche troppo lontano dalle quotidianità dei protagonisti, si organizza l’allestimento della Dodicesima notte di William Shakespeare.
Sempre attraverso i versi e le battute dalle opere del drammaturgo inglese, Piñeiro riesce a unire volti diversi, situazioni differenti e distanti, suggerendo i fili che legano fra loro tutte le parti di un disegno complessivo, umano e drammatico, in bilico fra verità e menzogna. Un altro esperimento di creatività narrativa, pieno di grandi momenti di grazia che rendono il cinema del regista argentino così unico e accattivante.

Viola, Cecilia, Agustín, Javier, Sabrina. A story of actresses and men, a labyrinth of sentimental intrigue, while in the background, but perhaps not too far from the daily lives of the protagonists, the staging of William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night is organized.
Again through the verses and lines from the works of the English playwright, Piñeiro manages to unite different faces, various and distant situations, suggesting the threads that bind together all the parts of an overall, human and dramatic design, poised between truth and lie. Another experiment in narrative creativity, full of great moments of grace that make the Argentine director’s cinema so unique and captivating.

È nato a Buenos Aires nel 1982. Vive a New York dal 2011. È regista e scrittore e ha realizzato lungometraggi e cortometraggi presentati in anteprima alla Berlinale, Locarno, Cannes, Toronto e New York. I suoi film di solito hanno come punto di partenza riferimenti letterari cari al regista come William Shakespeare, Cesare Pavese, Saffo e Domingo F. Sarmiento. Insegna cinema al Pratt Institute, New York, e coordina il programma di cinema presso l’Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola a San Sebastian. Ha anche lavorato alla programmazione di film per Anthology Film Archives e per il festival cinematografico Punto de Vista. Attualmente sta lavorando all’adattamento de La lezione del maestro di Henry James e ad un film-saggio tratto dal De remediis utriusque fortunae di Francesco Petrarca.

He was born in Buenos Aires in 1982. Based in New York since 2011. He is a film director and writer with feature and short films premiered in Berlinale, Locarno, Cannes, Toronto and New York Film Festival. His films usually spring from various literary sources such as William Shakespeare, Cesare Pavese, Sappho and Domingo F. Sarmiento. He teaches cinema at Pratt Institute, New York, and coordinates the filmmaking program at Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, San Sebastian. He also has worked in film programming for Anthology Film Archives and Punto de Vista film festival. He is currently working on the adaptation of The Lesson of the Master by Henry James and on an essay film based on Francesco Petrarca’s De remediis utriusque fortunae.
