Pierre-Joseph si iscrive a un corso di formazione per diventare giardiniere. È lì che incontra una serie di personaggi: Françoise Brown, la preside, Alberto il suo insegnante di botanica, Adrien il suo datore di lavoro, tutti decisivi per il suo percorso di formazione nonché per la scoperta della sua sessualità. Quarant'anni dopo appare Kutta, il figlio adottivo di cui Françoise Brown ha sempre sentito parlare e che non ha mai incontrato. Ma Kutta, divenuto proprietario di uno strano castello, sembra cercare qualcosa di diverso da un semplice giardiniere.
Ancora una volta Pierre Creton realizza un film intimo e anticonformista, la storia di un giovane uomo che si perde in un giardino labirintico di passioni e sentimenti da esplorare in sintonia con la natura. L'incontro tra i corpi desideranti esclude il dialogo mentre le voci fuori campo – qui di Françoise Lebrun, Grégory Gadebois e Mathieu Amalric – ci dicono qualcos'altro, creano una dissonanza e affrontano l'oscurità delle storie dei corpi che si intrecciano come piante lussureggianti che chiedono solo di crescere senza incontrare ostacoli.

Pierre-Joseph joins a training and apprenticeship centre to become a gardener. There he meets a series of characters: Françoise Brown, the headmistress, Alberto, his botany teacher, and Adrien, his employer, all of whom will play a decisive role in his apprenticeship story, and open him up to his sexuality. Forty years later, Kutta, Françoise Brown’s adopted child, whom she has always heard about but never met, shows up. But Kutta, who has become the owner of a strange château, seems to be looking for more than just a gardener.
Once again Pierre Creton realizes an intimate and unconventional film, the story of a young man who gets lost in a labyrinthine garden of passions and feelings to be explored in harmony with nature. Intertwined bodies overflowing with desire excludes dialogue while the off-screen voices – here by Françoise Lebrun, Grégory Gadebois and Mathieu Amalric – tell us something else, create a dissonance and reveal the dark side of the stories of the bodies that intertwine like lush plants seeking for growing without restrictions.

Nato nel 1966 a Seine Maritime, è artista e regista. Ha studiato all'École des Beaux-Arts di Le Havre. Bracciante agricolo, apicoltore, pastore: tutti questi lavori lo hanno portato a realizzare film sul rapporto servo/padrone o sulle relazioni che abbiamo con gli animali. È autore di una ventina di film, tutti presentati al FIDMarseille, e L’Heure du berger ha vinto il primo premio nel concorso francese del festival nel 2008. Quattro dei suoi lungometraggi sono stati distribuiti nelle sale: Secteur 545 (2004), Maniquerville (2009), Va, Toto! (2017) e Le Bel Été (2019). Vive e lavora in Normandia nel Pays de Caux, un territorio che continua a esplorare e filmare. Dal 2020 lavora in proprio come giardiniere presso la Maison Lambert. Un Prince (2023) è il suo ultimo film, presentato alla Quinzaine des Cinéastes di Cannes.

Born in 1966 in Seine Maritime, is an artist and a film director. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Le Havre. Farm worker, beekeeper and shepherd: all these works led him to make films on the master/slave relationship or on the relationships we have with animals. He is the author of around twenty films, all presented at FIDMarseille, and L’Heure du berger won first prize in the French competition of the festival in 2008. Four of his feature films have benefited from a national release: Secteur 545 (2004), Maniquerville (2009), Va, Toto! (2017) and Le Bel Été (2019). He lives and works in Normandy in the Pays de Caux, an area that he continues to explore and film. Since 2020 he has been self-employed as a gardener at Maison Lambert. Un Prince (2023) is his latest film, screened for the first time at the Quinzaine des Cinéastes in Cannes.
