Nell’Italia del sud una comunità di donne si dedica a pratiche divinatorie risalenti all'antichità romana, come l'ornitomanzia e l'interpretazione dei fenomeni celesti. In mezzo a un paesaggio prevalentemente rurale, le "augure" ritratte da Clémentine Roy decifrano l’indizio dato dal volo di un uccello o il significato dei brontolii del temporale e si scambiano le informazioni con messaggi vocali sul cellulare.
Predizioni che risuonano piuttosto come descrizioni di un mondo desiderato in cui la lentezza e i gesti quotidiani si riappropriano dell'importanza ormai perduta. Un film che propone una nuova affascinante formula per vivere in armonia col cosmo, incapace di nascondere i conflitti evidenti di una modernità che si scontra con un mondo ancestrale e misterioso, ma capace di incuriosire su come sia possibile riscrivere il presente, o vederlo con occhi nuovi.

In the south of Italy, a community of women devotes itself to divinatory practices dating back to Roman antiquity, such as ornithomancy and the interpretation of celestial phenomena. In the midst of a predominantly rural landscape, the "augurs" portrayed by Clémentine Roy decipher the clue given by the flight of a bird or the meaning of the rumblings of the storm and exchange the information with voice messages on their cell phones.
Predictions that resonate rather like descriptions of a desired world in which slowness and daily gestures reconquer their lost importance. A movie that suggests a new fascinating way to live in harmony with the cosmos, unable to hide the evident conflicts between modernity and an ancestral and mysterious world, but able to intrigue about how it could be possible to rewrite the present, or to see it with new eyes.

Abita a Berlino, dove si occupa di arte visiva e collabora a numerosi progetti. Tra etnografia e fantascienza, il suo film Carcasse (2017) presenta una comunità di uomini e animali che lavorano su un'isola deserta, reliquie di un mondo perduto. È stato esposto alla Berlinische Galerie e selezionato in vari festival come Rotterdam o Montréal. Arancia Bruciata è il suo ultimo film, passato dalla competizione principale del festival Cinéma du Réel nel 2024.

She is based in Berlin where she develops a visual artistic practice and various collaborations. Between ethnography and science-fiction, her film Carcasse (2017) presents a community of men and animals working on a deserted island from the relics of a lost world. It was shown at Berlinische Galerie and selected in various festivals such as Rotterdam or Montréal. Arancia Bruciata is her latest film, screened in the main competition of Cinéma du Réel 2024.
