«Move slowly, and when the movement starts to feel automatic stop. Feel again», sussurrano gli invisibili, coloro che implodono nella danza della morte, il butoh. La trance dance, cuore di Invisible People, nasce in Giappone nell’atmosfera sperimentale del secondo dopoguerra e ribolle di carne che perde tutto ciò che la rende leggibile, escluso il movimento; si anima di corpi liberati dal proprio collasso e di materia che si dissolve per divenire varco tra la vita e la morte.
Il documentario di Alisa Berger si lascia sommergere da questo linguaggio segreto, orfano di parole, per intessere un’estetica erotica e spettrale. Attraversa le immagini dei danzatori con cui prende parte alla meraviglia della distruzione razionale. Si ferma. Sente di nuovo.

«Move slowly, and when the movement starts to feel automatic stop. Feel again», whisper the invisible people, those who implode in the dance of death, the butoh. The trance dance, the heart of Invisible People, was born in Japan in the experimental atmosphere after World War II and seethes with flesh that loses everything of its legibility, excluding movement; it comes alive with bodies freed from their own collapse and with matter that dissolves to become a gateway between life and death.
Alisa Berger's documentary is submerged by this secret language, orphaned of words, to weave an erotic and spectral aesthetic. It traverses the images of the dancers with whom it partakes in the wonder of rational destruction. It stops. It feels again.

Nata nel 1987 in Russia e cresciuta in Ucraina e Germania, ha studiato cinema e belle arti all'Academy of Media Art Cologne e all'Universidad Nacional de Colombia Bogotá. Nel 2017, il suo film di diploma Astronauts’ Bodies ha ricevuto il Best Film Award for New Directors all'Int. Film Festival Uruguay e il Premio per la Sceneggiatura H.W. Geißendörfer. Dal 2018 al 2022 ha vissuto a Tokyo e ha studiato butoh, in prosecuzione di una ricerca artistica incentrata sulle pratiche culturali che rivendicano la dimensione irrazionale e spirituale del reale. Questa sensibilità permea Invisible People, realizzato nel programma di Le Fresnoy - Studio national des arts contemporains, e vincitore dello Studio Collector Prize al Jeu de Paume e dell'Analix Forever Prize.

Born in 1987 Russia and raised in Ukraine and Germany, she studied film and fine arts at the Academy of Media Art Cologne and at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia Bogotá. In 2017, her diploma film Astronauts’ bodies has received the Best Film Award for New Directors at Int. Film Festival Uruguay and the Screenplay Award of H.W. Geißendörfer. From 2018 to 2022, she lived in Tokyo and studied butoh, in continuation of an artistic pursuit focused on cultural practices that claim the irrational and spiritual dimensions of reality. This sensibility permeates Invisible people, realized in the program of Le Fresnoy - Studio national des arts contemporains, and winner of the Studio Collector Prize at Jeu de Paume and the Analix Forever Prize.
