Alma Palacios

Dopo aver studiato danza contemporanea al Conservatorio Nazionale Superiore di Musica e Danza di Parigi, Alma Palacios ha proseguito i suoi studi al P.A.R.T.S. di Bruxelles. Dal 2008 al 2011 ha ricevuto il premio Migros per la danza contemporanea. Nel maggio 2012 ha creato Mademoiselle Else, su testo di Arthur Schnitzler, con Frank Vercruyssen (compagnia cie Tg STAN). Ha lavorato nuovamente con Frank Vercruyssen nel novembre 2013 quando si è esibita in Nusch. Ha lavorato con i coreografi e registi Mathilde Monnier, Guillaume Guilherme, Emmanuelle Pépin, Thomas Fourneau, Jacinto Lucas Pires e Hélène Rocheteau. Dal 2016 al 2018 ha recitato in Bovary di Tiago Rodrigues e ha fatto parte del progetto Occupation Bastille al Théâtre de la Bastille. Tra il 2018 e il 2019 è stata in residenza al Château de Monthelon, per la creazione del suo monologo Comme une sauterelle. È cantante del gruppo Danger Dragon, con sede in Borgogna. Attualmente sta lavorando con Manon Parent a Autobiographie des contradictions, che debutterà nell'ottobre 2024. Recita negli spettacoli Chœur des amants di Tiago Rodrigues, Lettres non-écrites di David Geselson e Des femmes qui nagent di Émilie Capliez, attualmente in tournée.

Alma Palacios is an actress, dancer and singer. After studying contemporary dance at the CNSMDP in Paris, Alma Palacios continued her studies at P.A.R.T.S. (Brussels). From 2008 to 2011 she was awarded the Migros study prize for contemporary dance. In May 2012 she created Mademoiselle Else, a text by Arthur Schnitzler, with Frank Vercruyssen (cie Tg STAN). She reunited with Frank Vercruyssen in November 2013 when she performed in Nusch. She works for choreographers and directors Mathilde Monnier, Guillaume Guilherme, Emmanuelle Pépin, Thomas Fourneau, Jacinto Lucas Pires, Hélène Rocheteau. From 2016 to 2018, she performed in Bovary by Tiago Rodrigues and was part of the Occupation Bastille project at the Théâtre de la Bastille. Between 2018 and 2019 she is in long-term residency at Château de Monthelon, for the creation of her solo Comme une sauterelle. She is a singer with the Burgundy-based group Barefoot. She regularly works in homes for the disabled, EHPAD and detention centers.  She is currently working with Manon Parent on Autobiography of contradictions, scheduled for release in 2024. She performs in Chœur des amants by Tiago Rodrigues, Des femmes qui nagent by Emilie Capliez, and Lettres non-écrites by David Geselson, currently on tour.

Manon Parent

Manon è originaria di Parigi e vive a Berlino dal 2013. Si è diplomata in danza contemporanea presso il Conservatorio Nazionale Superiore di Musica e Danza nel 2009 e ha ottenuto un diploma in violino classico nel 2010. Nel 2011 è entrata a far parte del Ballet Junior de Genève e nel 2012 ha ottenuto una borsa di studio della commissione Fulbright per studiare Body Mind Centering a New York. Negli ultimi anni ha lavorato come danzatrice, coreografa, cantante, musicista e compositrice con Ioannis Mandafounis (Sing the Positions, One One One, Scarbo, A la Carte...), Margot Dorléans (Embody collective, Confier), Kareth Schaffer (Unheard of, Cassandra has turned 2, Question of belief), Roni Katz (A Matter of One's own, The End is not an Option), Sergiu Matis (Hopeless, Extinction Room, Unruhe) e Stephanie Thiersch (Hello to Emptiness). Dal 2014, Manon produce anche musica per il teatro, il cinema e la televisione. Crea il duo di musica sperimentale e pop Machines for calm living assieme a Jean P'ark, seguendo le orme di Red Monky, il loro precedente progetto di performance collaborativa ibrida e femminista basata su pratiche di improvvisazione. Nel 2020, Manon ha vinto la borsa di studio Tanzpraxis del Senato di Berlino. Dal settembre 2023 lavora come artista solista assieme alla Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company.

Manon Parent is a classically trained violinist, composer, dancer and choreographer. Originally from Paris, she is now based in Berlin since 2013. As a multidisciplinary artist, Manon has worked for, and toured internationally with Kareth Schaffer (Unheard of, Cassandra has turned 2, Question of Belief), Roni Katz (A Matter of one’s own), Sergiu Matis (Hopeless, Extinction Room, Unrest, Blazing Worlds), Jefta van Dinther (Unearth, Remachine) and Stephanie Thiersch (Hello to Emptiness) as well as Margot (Confier). She was also involved in several productions by Ioannis Mandafounis, among which, she co-authored of Sing the positions and Scarbo. She performed on renowned stages such as ImpulsTanz Festival, Panorama Festival Rio de Janeiro, Centre Pompidou, Tanzhaus Zurich, ADC Geneva, Kalamata Dance Festival, Athens Festival, Sidance Festival Seoul, and Theatre de la Ville Paris. In 2020 she received the Tanzpraxis scholarship from the Berlin Senat. Manon is working as a guest artist and soloist at the Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company since September 2023.

Ricercatrice in Letterature comparate presso l'Università per Stranieri di Siena, e ricercatrice affiliata presso l'Università di Oxford e presso l'ICI - Institute for Cultural Inquiry di Berlino. Ha conseguito un dottorato di ricerca presso l'Università di Oxford e ottenuto borse di studio post-dottorato presso l'Università di Warwick (British Academy) e l'ICI di Berlino. È autrice di Writing for Freedom. Body, Identity and Power in Goliarda Sapienza's Narrative (Peter Lang 2018), recentemente pubblicato in edizione rivisitata con il titolo Scrivere la libertà (ETS 2022), e co-curatrice di The Politics of Translation (Comparative Critical Studies), Gender and Authority (Palgrave Macmillan 2020) e Goliarda Sapienza in Context (Fairleigh Dickinson UP 2016). Le sue principali aree di ricerca sono la letteratura italiana contemporanea, la letteratura comparata, la teoria letteraria e gli studi femministi, queer e decoloniali, con particolare attenzione alla temporalità, al potere e all'embodiment.

She is Assistant Professor of Comparative Literature at the University for Foreigners of Siena, Italy; Hon. Research Fellow at the University of Oxford, UK; and Affiliated Fellow at the ICI Berlin Institute for Cultural Inquiry; Germany. She completed her PhD at the University of Oxford, and then held Postdoctoral Fellowships at the University of Warwick (British Academy) and the ICI Berlin. She is the author of Writing for Freedom. Body, Identity and Power in Goliarda Sapienza’s Narrative (Peter Lang 2018), recently published in Italian in a revised edition with title Scrivere la libertà (ETS 2022), and co-editor of The Politics of Translation (Comparative Critical Studies); Gender and Authority (Palgrave Macmillan 2020); and Goliarda Sapienza in Context (Fairleigh Dickinson UP 2016). Her main research areas are modern Italian literature, comparative literature, literary theory, and feminist, queer and decolonial studies, with a focus on temporality, power and embodiment.
