Legiferiamo, controlliamo, tentiamo di sfuggire da tutto ciò che ci fa sentire animali e mortali. Eppure basta un soffio, magari del tempo in solitudine, per far crollare l’illusione. Questa consapevolezza infesta La Legge, un film rifiutato da tutti i festival del mondo in cui siamo chiamati in prima persona per sfumare i confini tra legge e natura, umanità e animalità. Sono centonovanta le voci a dar corpo agli articoli della Costituzione Italiana, centonovanta i cellulari che fungono da medium per lasciar penetrare la Legge nei propri spazi privati, più di centonovanta i gatti, cani, piccioni, pecore a darle un volto.
La Legge ci spinge nelle pieghe perturbanti delle sovrastrutture che non ci appartengono ma a cui ci aggrappiamo in un climax crescente: solo alla fine, come collettività, potremo riconoscerci come animali umani.

We legislate, we control, we attempt to escape from everything that makes us feel animal and mortal. Yet all it takes is a breath, perhaps some time alone, to shatter the illusion. This awareness haunts La Legge, a film that hasn’t been accepted by any festival in the world, in which we are called upon to blur the boundaries between law and nature, humanity and animality. There are a hundred and ninety voices to flesh out the articles of the Italian Constitution, a hundred and ninety cell phones that serve as mediums to let the Law penetrate one's private spaces, more than a hundred and ninety cats, dogs, pigeons, sheep to give it a face.
La Legge pushes us into the perturbing folds of superstructures that do not belong to us but to which we cling in an escalating climax: only in the end, as a collective, will we be able to recognize ourselves as human animals.

Nata nel 1960 ad Anzio, è scultrice, scenografa e artista. Inizia nel 1987 il proprio sodalizio artistico con Antonio Rezza con cui realizza diversi spettacoli teatrali e inaugura la carriera registica con il cortometraggio Suppietij (1991) presentato al Filmmaker di Milano. Nel 1996 scrive e dirige con Rezza il film a episodi concatenati Escoriandoli, presentato alla mostra del cinema di Venezia; l’anno dopo realizza Cravatta d’autore, ritratto cinematografico di Enrico Ghezzi. Nel 2013 vince il Premio Hystrio Altre Muse e Ubu per aver portato avanti un’idea originale di comunicazione nell’ambito del teatro insieme ad Antonio Rezza, e nel 2018 a Venezia il Leone d’oro alla carriera della Biennale Teatro, sempre insieme a Rezza. La Legge è il suo ultimo film.

Born in 1960 in Anzio, she is a sculptor, set designer and artist. She began in 1987 her artistic partnership with Antonio Rezza, with whom she produced several theatrical shows and inaugurated her directing career with the short film Suppietij (1991) presented at Filmmaker in Milan. In 1996 she writes and directs with Rezza the film with concatenated episodes Escoriandoli, presented at the Venice Film Festival; the following year she made Cravatta d'autore, a cinematic portrait of Enrico Ghezzi. In 2013 she won the Hystrio Altre Muse and Ubu Prize for pursuing an original idea of communication in the theater with Antonio Rezza, and in 2018 in Venice the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement together with Rezza. La Legge is her latest film.
