Mentre si appresta a realizzare il suo visionario progetto pornografico di fantascienza, l’artista transessuale Tara Emory è costretta ad affrontare sia lo sgombero del suo studio fotografico, Le Wonderland, sia i suoi tormenti familiari e personali. Questo documentario coniuga immagini dei film di Emory e immagini del suo privato, trovando un equilibrio formale fra due parti di vita apparentemente inconciliabili. Mentre l’immaginario della regista spazia tra sesso con robot e citazioni a hentai e futanari della tradizione Manga giapponese, i suoi drammi privati rischiano di far crollare i suoi progetti di elevare la fotografia pornografica transessuale ad arte elevata.

While she’s going to realize her visionary porn sci-fi project, the transsexual artist Tara Emory has to face both the evictment of her photographic studio, Le Wonderland, and her personal and familiar struggles. This documentary puts together images from Emory’s movies and images from her private life, finding a formal balance between two sides that seemed irreconcilable. While the fictitious world of the director explores sex with robots and quoting from Japanese Manga genres like hentai and futanari, her will to elevate transsexual photoerotica to high art risks to collapse.

Presidente della compagnia di produzione e promozione artistica Fraser Films, è regista e direttrice della fotografia. Vive e lavora a Montréal. È stata assistente di camera, operatrice di camera e direttrice della fotografia per numerosi corti, videoclip e serie televisive. Artista multiforme, il suo intento è mettere in primo piano nel suo lavoro umanità e giustizia. Tra i suoi lavori precedenti la direzione della fotografia in film di finzione come Les Jaunes (2013) e L'Étrange Province (2015) di Rémi Fréchette, Drum de Marde (2015) e Blast Beat (2018) di Pascal Plante, e la regia di cortometraggi come Le temps d'ériger un clocher (2012), L’âme coincée entre deux morceaux de tôle (2013), Marée (2017), Domino (2017) Un autre jour (2018), The Secret Project (2018). The End of Wonderland (2021), la cui lavorazione è durata sette anni, è il suo primo lungometraggio da regista.

President of the production and arts company Fraser Films, she is a filmmaker and cinematographer. She lives and works in Montréal. She’s been camera assistant, camera operator and cinematographer for various shorts, music videos and TV series. Multifaceted artist, her aim is to bring humanity and justice to the forefront of her work. Her previous projects include cinematography on fiction films including Les Jaunes (2013) and L'Étrange Province (2015) by Rémi Fréchette, Drum de Marde (2015) and Blast Beat (2018) by Pascal Plante and directing of short films Le temps d'ériger un clocher (2012), L’âme coincée entre deux morceaux de tôle (2013), Marée (2017), Domino (2017) Un autre jour (2018), The Secret Project (2018). The End of Wonderland (2021), which was completed over seven years, is her first feature film as a director.
