In Georgia, due naufraghi nigeriani, Obinna e Afame, navigano nell’intorpidita città di Tbilisi dopo una lunga notte fuori. Tuttavia, al sorgere del giorno, le vere sfumature del loro ambiguo rapporto cominciano a rivelarsi, poiché soltanto così potranno trovare conforto in un ambiente tanto ostile. Mentre i protagonisti vagano senza meta per la città, si avverte un senso di apertura esistenziale. Non hanno un posto dove andare, e poco viene rivelato del loro passato. Ogni azione, ogni parola pronunciata ha luogo in un presente indeterminato, come se non fossero legati né a eventi passati né a qualcosa che verrà. Elene Naveriani cattura i piccoli dettagli e i sentimenti sfuggenti che caratterizzano questa temporalità fluida, dove all'io è data la possibilità di rimodellarsi.

In Georgia, two stranded Nigerians, Obinna and Afame, navigate the sleeping city of Tbilisi after a long night out. However, as day breaks the true colors of their ambiguous affection begin to show. In this way, they find solace despite their hostile environment.A sense of existential openness arises from Red Ants Bite, as the protagonists wander aimlessly through the city. They have nowhere to go, and little is revealed about their past. Every action, every word uttered takes place in an indeterminate present, as if they were related neither to any past events nor to anything to come. Elene Naveriani captures the small details and the ambiguous feelings that characterize this fluid temporality, where the self is given the opportunity to refashion itself.

Nata nel 1985 a Tbilisi, in Georgia. Nel 2003, viene accettata all'Académie des Beaux-Arts di Tbilisi. Il suo lavoro di laurea è basato su un progetto collettivo completato nel 2007. Per cinque anni lavora anche nel collettivo LOTT, che ha fondato insieme ad altri artisti. Nel 2009, prosegue i suoi studi alla HEAD (Geneva School of Art and Design), ottenendo inizialmente un MA in Arti Visive e specializzandosi in studi CCC (Cybermedia Curatorial Critical), prima di ottenere, nel 2014, un BA nel dipartimento Cinéma/Cinéma du Réel.
All'inizio del 2017, Elene completa il suo primo lungometraggio I am Truly a Drop of Sun on Earth, nominato per un premio al Solothurn film festival, e in anteprima internazionale all'IFFR di Rotterdam. Da allora, completa altri due cortometraggi e il suo secondo lungometraggio, Wet Sand, viene presentato in anteprima a Locarno nell'estate del 2021. Elene sta attualmente lavorando al suo terzo film. È una delle cofondatrici della società di produzione Mishkin, che ha coprodotto il suo primo lungometraggio.

Born in 1985 in Tbilisi, Georgia. In 2003, she is accepted at the Académie des Beaux-Arts of Tbilisi, where she studies art. Her graduation work is based on a collective project completed in 2007. For five years, she also works in the LOTT collective, which she founded along with other artists. In 2009, she pursues her studies at the HEAD (Geneva School of Art and Design), initially obtaining a MA in Visual Arts and specialising in CCC (Cybermedia Curatorial Critical) studies, before obtaining a BA in 2014 in the Cinéma/Cinéma du Réel department.
In early 2017, Elene completes her first feature film I am Truly a Drop of Sun on Earth, nominated for an award at the Solothurn film festival, and premiering internationally at the IFFR Rotterdam. Since, she completes two other short films and her second feature, Wet Sand, premieres at Locarno in summer 2021. Elene is currently working on her third feature. She is one of the cofounders of the Mishkin production company, where she coproduced her first feature film.
