In una notte di pioggia, un uomo triste lascia la sua casa per consegnare una lettera a qualcuno che lo ha lasciato di recente. Ad un angolo incontra una donna che lo avverte della strada sdrucciolevole. È così che conosce Diana. Gonçalo – il cuore spezzato – cade dalla sua moto.
Il cinema di Diogo Costa Amarante è tutto un confondere i confini e sfidare i sistemi binari. Giorno e notte, realtà e fantasia, presente e ricordi sono così strettamente intrecciati che non si riesce più a distinguerli. Questo apre la strada a una poesia onirica e associativa, dove il significato svanisce e lascia spazio al semplice piacere visivo. Il film stesso diventa una strada sdrucciolevole sulla quale lo spettatore, come Gonçalo, cade dopo aver rinunciato a qualsiasi tentativo di pensare attraverso categorie normative.

On a rainy night, a sad man leaves his home to deliver a letter to someone who recently left him. At a corner, he meets a woman who warns him about the slippery road. This is how he met Diana. Suffering from a heartbreak, Gonçalo falls from his motorbike.
Diogo Costa Amarante’s cinema is all about blurring boundaries and challenging binary systems. Day and night, reality and fantasy, present and memories are so closely intertwined that one cannot distinguish them anymore. This opens the way for a dreamlike and associative poetry where meaning fades away and leaves room for mere visual pleasure. The film itself becomes a slippery road on which the audience, like Gonçalo, falls down after giving up any attempt to think through normative categories.

Regista portoghese, ha studiato Cinema documentario alla Catalonian Film School. Si è specializzato in Produzione cinematografica alla New York University – Tisch School of the Arts con una borsa di studio Fullbright. Ha diretto diversi corti, tra cui Down Here che ha vinto il premio della giuria del Palermo Pride alla seconda edizione del Sicilia Queer filmfest nel 2012, e sta lavorando al suo primo lungometraggio, Safe Only.

Portuguese filmmaker, he studied Documentary Film and Cinematography at the Catalonian Film School and finished a MA in Film Production at the New York University – Tisch School of the Arts as a Fulbright Scholar. He directed several shorts, among them Down Here which won the award of the jury of Palermo Pride during the second edition of the Sicilia Queer filmfest in 2012, and is currently preparing his first feature film, Safe Only.
