Libera rilettura del film Un Chant d’Amour (1950) di Jean Genet, una storia d’amore omosessuale tra detenuti di un carcere, consumata sotto gli occhi sadici e desideranti di una guardia carceraria.
Dietro lo spioncino però non più i corpi rampanti descritti dall’autore e cineasta francese, bensì quelli di un folto gruppo di donne anziane in menopausa. Ecco il cortocircuito: il celerino-voyeur non può far altro che constatare la forza violenta e senza freni di un erotismo inaspettato e aggressivo, ormai libero dal giogo riproduttivo e che sfugge dunque alle aspettative ed ai costrutti patriarcali.
Il film, originariamente pensato per il cinema, è realizzato su commissione della Bergen Assembly Triennal; s’inserisce nel contesto della mostra all'Hamburger Bahnhof, all’interno della Hot Flashes Forest, un'installazione immersiva pensata per combinare lavori compositi che riflettono sul corpo della donna in relazione al tema della riproduzione.

Qu’un Sang Impur began as a loose remake of Jean Genet’s Un Chant d’Amour (1950), a homoerotic love story between inmates in a prison, under the yearning watch of a sadistic prison guard full of desire.
Behind the peephole, this time, there aren’t the rampant bodies described by the French author and filmmaker, but those of a large group of elderly women in menopause. Here is the short-circuit: the guard-voyeur can do nothing but observe the violent and unrestrained force of that unexpected and aggressive eroticism, finally free from the reproductive yoke and from patriarchal expectations and constructs.
The film, originally made for cinema, is a commission of the Bergen Assembly Triennal. It is in the context of the show at the Hamburger Bahnhof, installed in the Hot Flashes Forest, an immersive installation thought to combine a multiple of works that deal with reproductive idea of the woman’s body.

Nata nel 1980 a Marsiglia, in Francia, è un'artista eclettica che vive tra Berlino e Roma e che si muove tra installazioni, performance, film e disegno. Alcuni tra i suoi lavori individuali e collettivi, i progetti realizzati su commissione e le proiezioni sono stati scelti da prestigiose fondazioni e festival in Europa e nel mondo tra cui: la 57° Biennale di Venezia, la Tate Modern di Londra (2017); l’International Film Festival di Rotterdam; La Fondation Cartier pour l'Art Contemporain, il Palais de Tokio, il Centre George Pompidou a Parigi, e molti altri. Curnier Jardin ha portato a termine una residenza alla Rijkasakademie Van Beeldende Kunsten, di Amsterdam, nel 2015-2016. È stata la vincitrice del premio olandese NN Award (2018) e vincitrice del Prix Fondation d'entreprise Ricard. Inoltre è la vincitrice del Preis der Nationalgalerie 2019 e destinataria delle borse di studio Villa Medici di Roma 2019-2020 e Villa Romana 2021 di Firenze.

Born in 1980 in Marseille, France, she is a Berlin-Rome based eclectic artist working across installation, performance, film and drawing. Some of her solo and group exhibitions, commissioned projects and screenings have been selected by prestigious foundations and festivals in Europe and all around the world, including: 57th Venice Biennale, Tate Modern, London (2017); International Film Festival, Rotterdam; The Fondation Cartier pour l’Art Contemporain, Palais de Tokio, Centre George Pompidou, Paris, etc. Curnier Jardin completed a residency at the Rijkasakademie Van Beeldende Kunsten, Amsterdam, in 2015-2016. She was the winner of the Dutch prize NN Award (2018) and laureate of Prix Fondation d’entreprise Ricard. In addition to many other things she is the winner of the 2019 Preis der Nationalgalerie and recipient of the 2019-2020 Villa Medici and the 2021 Villa Romana Fellows in Florence.
