All'inizio degli anni ’80, Brocatella “canta” le lodi della telematica al suo amico Nino che, al contrario, ignora cosa sia. Molto presto il suo lavoro per la chat erotica Minitel Rose finisce per annoiarla, rendendole ancora più difficile dimenticare la sua ex, Electra. Ma forse l'amore è a portata di un clic...
Rose Minitel racconta in tre giorni e sette canzoni il destino stravagante e tragico di Brocatella, la quale vive molto prima dell'invenzione di Meetic o Tinder, nell'eccitazione illusoria degli amori virtuali. Il film è una fiaba sulla nostra epoca, un dramma sulla solitudine nell'era neoliberale dei social nata proprio negli anni ’80.

At the beginning of the 80’S, Brocatella “sings” the praises of telematics to her friend Nino, who doesn’t know what it is. Yet, her job for the erotic chat Minitel Rose bores her and not let her forget her ex, Electra. But maybe love is just a click away…
Rose Minitel tells in three days and seven songs the fantasist and tragic destiny of Brocatella, who lives a long time before Meetic or Tinder in the illusory excitation of virtual loves. The film is a fable about our time, a drama of loneliness in the neoliberal era of social networks that was born in the 80’s.

Nato nel 1988, si diploma nel 2015 all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Parigi, dove comincia a concepire delle installazioni video, a volte contemplative e malinconiche, a partire da viaggi e passeggiate urbane, altre volte critiche e provocatorie, spaziando dalla videosorveglianza alle immagini di guerra, lavorando sull'immaginario del terrore. Le sue opere sono state mostrate in occasione di importanti manifestazioni (European Art Media Festival of Osnabrück, BJCEM a Tirana, Nuit Blanche a Parigi, Grundemark Nilsson Galery a Berlino). Ha girato i suoi due primi film di finzione a Le Fresnoy, The Dream of Lady Hamilton nel 2018 e Rose Minitel nel 2019. Insegna anche sceneggiatura all'Università Paris 8 e scrive spesso di cinema in riviste francesi come Trafic e Débordements. Ha scritto un libro, Le Partage de la douleur. Une impolitique du film, pubblicato da De L'Incidence.

Born in 1988, he is graduated in 2015 from Les Beaux-Arts de Paris, where he began to imagine video installations, sometimes contemplative and melancholic, about travels and urban strolls, sometimes critical and disturbing, about video surveillance, pictures of war and imagery of terror. His artwork has been showed in European exhibitions (European Art Media Festival of Osnabrück, BJCEM in Tirana, Nuit Blanche in Paris, Grundemark Nilsson Galery in Berlin). He directed his two first fictions at Le Fresnoy, The Dream of Lady Hamilton in 2018 and Rose Minitel in 2019. Olivier Cheval also teaches scriptwriting at the University Paris 8 and regularly writes about cinema in French reviews, Trafic and Débordements. He wrote a book, Le Partage de la douleur. Une impolitique du film, published by De L’Incidence.
