Un salotto con pareti color salmone, arredato da arazzi, busti, piante e un manichino da sarta. Su una poltrona di velluto siede Wilma Azevedo/Edivina Ribeiro, 74 anni, la “regina della letteratura sadomasochistica” brasiliana. Racconta la sua storia che si ramifica in una serie di aneddoti erotici che includono banane non troppo mature, dildo di carta vetrata e nervi sovrastimolati. Quando la memoria recalcitra interviene Wanda, un’attrice che dovrebbe interpretarla in un film di prossima realizzazione, cui è affidata la lettura dei suoi racconti e delle lettere degli ammiratori.
Dall’intervista traspare la creazione, dalla rievocazione il processo compositivo. Wilma è Edivina, un unico corpo che racchiude in sé bene e male, fede ed erotismo, finzione e documentazione, e i suoi racconti animano inerti manichini con la forza dirompente del desiderio.

A drawing room with salmon-coloured walls, tapestries, busts, house plants, a dressmaker’s dummy. In a velvet armchair sits Wilma Azevedo/Edivina Ribeiro, 74, Brazil’s “queen of sadomasochistic literature”. She tells the story of her life, which quickly branches out into a series of detailed erotic anecdotes involving green bananas, dildos made of sandpaper and over-stimulated nerves. Sometimes her memory fails her, at which point Wanda, the young actress in the background, who is supposed to play her in an upcoming film, comes to her aid, reading her stories and the letters of the admirers.
From the interview shines through the creation, from the recollection the compositional process. Wilma is Edivina, a single body that contains within itself good and evil, faith and eroticism, fiction and documentation, and her stories enliven inert mannequins with the disruptive force of desire.

Nato nel 1985, è regista, sceneggiatore e attore. Ha studiato letteratura all’Università di San Paolo e sceneggiatura all’EICTV di Cuba. Ha diretto diversi cortometraggi come Filme para poeta cego (Rotterdam 2012), La llamada (Festival dei Popoli 2014), Nova Dubai (Torino 2014, Rotterdam 2015), Os cuidados que se tem com o cuidado que os outros devem ter consigo mesmos (Indie Lisboa 2017), Filme-catástrofe (Queer Lisboa 2017). Il suo primo lungometraggio Lembro mais dos corvos, presentato alla nona edizione del Sicilia Queer filmfest, ha vinto il premio come migliore opera prima al Cinéma du réel 2018 e miglior film all’Indie Lisboa dello stesso anno. Ha inoltre recitato in Just Past Noon on a Tuesday, cortometraggio di Travis Mathews che ha vinto la competizione Queer Shorts dell’ottava edizione del Sicilia Queer filmfest.

Born in 1985, he is a director, screenwriter and actor. He studied Literature at São Paolo University and Scriptwriting at the International School of Film and TV (EICTV) in Cuba. He directed several shorts like Filme para poeta cego (Rotterdam 2012), La llamada (Festival dei Popoli 2014), Nova Dubai (Torino 2014, Rotterdam 2015), Os cuidados que se tem com o cuidado que os outros devem ter consigo mesmos (Indie Lisboa 2017), Filme-catástrofe (Queer Lisboa 2017). His first feature film Lembro mais dos corvos, screened in Sicilia Queer’s 2019 edition, won best first film at Cinéma du reel 2018 and best film at Indie Lisboa of the same year. He also starred in Travis Mathews’ Just Past Noon on a Tuesday, which won the Queer Shorts competition in the 2018 edition of the Sicilia Queer filmfest.
