Gennaio 2016. Dopo la fine di una storia d’amore Frank Beauvais si rifugia in un remoto villaggio dell’Alsazia, immergendosi in una solitudine pressoché assoluta e, soprattutto, nel cinema. Nel frattempo la Francia è sotto shock per gli attacchi terroristici di novembre e nel pieno dell’emergenza. Frank guarda ossessivamente un film dopo l’altro, come se il cinema potesse recargli sollievo, conducendolo verso un’illuminazione che, in un primo, lungo momento, non potrà non infliggergli un dolore ancora più lancinante. Nei mesi successivi ha composto un diario audiovisivo montando immagini degli innumerevoli film che ha visto, scoperchiando un inconscio psico-visuale da cui affiorano ricordi dell’amore perduto e reminiscenze famigliari.

January 2016. After the end of a love story, Frank Beauvais takes refuge in a remote village in Alsace, immersing himself in almost absolute solitude and, above all, in cinema. Meanwhile, France is in the midst of the emergency and still in a state of shock from the terrorist attacks in November. Frank obsessively watches one film after another, as if the cinema could bring him relief, leading him towards an illumination that, for a first, long moment will inflict an even more excruciating pain. In the following months he composed an audiovisual diary by assembling images of the countless films he saw, uncovering a psycho-visual unconscious from which memories of lost love and family reminiscences emerge.

Nato nel 1970 a Phalsbourg, ha studiato Letteratura inglese. Ha programmato la selezione competitiva del Belfort EntreVues Film Festival dal 1999 al 2002. Ne croyez surtout pas que je hurle è il suo primo lungometraggio, realizzato dopo aver scritto e diretto otto cortometraggi. Nel 2008 ha vinto il Grand Prix per il miglior cortometraggio con Je flotterai sans envie a Belfort. Svolge altresì attività di consulente musicale e ha curato film quali Odete, 7 ans, Home, Un poison violent, Vandal.

Born in 1970, he studied English. He programmed the competitive selection from Belfort EntreVues Film Festival between 1999 and 2002. Just don’t think I’ll scream is his first feature film after writing and directing 8 short films. In 2008 he won the Grand Prix for best short film with Je flotterai sans envie at Belfort EntreVues. He also works as a music consultant and has curated films such as Odete, 7 ans, Home, Un poison violent, Vandal.
