In una città coreana una coppia visita un nuovo appartamento. Il cambio della casa scatena il ricordo della loro assai delicata vicenda coniugale, la trasformazione identitaria del marito in un transessuale. Un’evoluzione che entro le mura domestiche viene accettata dalla moglie, ma che si complica quando il luogo cambia e diventa un locale pubblico con altri testimoni.
Silenzi, vetrate opache e sguardi irresoluti sono i segni d’interpunzione di un linguaggio cinematografico maturo, assai raffinato nella messa in scena e nella scelta delle lenti fotografiche. I dialoghi sono invece volutamente classici, fondativi della struttura rifiuto–comprensione-accettazione che anima la tensione tra i personaggi.

In a Korean city a couple visits their new apartment. Changing their home causes the memory of their delicate marital affair, the husband’s identity transformation in a transsexual. An evolution which is accepted by the wife at home, but that gets twisted when the place changes into a public space with other witnesses.
Silences, matt glass windows and uncertain looks are the punctuation marks of a mature cinematographic language, highly sophisticated in the mise-en-scene and in the lenses selection. On the contrary the dialogues are classical, founding of the structure refusal-compassion-acceptance which animate the tension between the characters.

È nata nel 1990 e si è laureata in cinema alla Yongin University, Corea del Sud. Attualmente studia produzione cinematografica presso la Dongguk University Graduate School of Film Studies. Ha diretto nel 2015 Firework, nel 2016 Girls’ Day e nel 2017 Cycling Boy. A Woman’s Wife è il suo ultimo cortometraggio, selezionato al Seoul International Women’s Film Festival e al Women Make Waves Film Festival Taiwan.
