Durante il suo discorso di premiazione per il premio alla carriera, Nicholas Chauvin soldato contadino, veterano della Rivoluzione e delle Guerre Napoleoniche e padre del chauvinismo, si imbarca in un gran monologo che lo manda indietro nello spazio e nel tempo. Fino a che, ad una curva in una strada illuminata dalla luna, un incontro spettrale cambia il corso della sua non esistenza.
Intrecciando senza soluzione di continuità il passato ed il presente, il film ci invita a riesaminare le figure cristallizzate nella storia attraverso una lente nuova e particolare. Un delirio che riesce ad essere allo stesso tempo esaltazione iconografica e pura iconoclastia atemporale.

During his acceptance speech for a lifetime achievement award, Nicolas Chauvin farmer soldier, veteran of the Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, and the father of chauvinism embarks on a grand monologue, sending him back in time and space. Until, at a bend on a moonlit road, a spectral encounter changes the course of his non existence.
Linking seamlessly past and present, the movie invites us to review the figures crystallized in History throughout a new and peculiar lens. A delirium which manages to be at the same time iconographical glorification and timeless iconoclasm.

Dopo avere studiato pittura a Yale, si trasferisce in Francia dove inizia la sua attività di artista e videomaker presso Le Fresnoy – Studio National des Arts Contemporains. I suoi lavori hanno fatto il giro di festival come Locarno, Rotterdam e Lisbona e di istituzioni come la Tate Modern, il Palais de Tokyo di Parigi e il Centro d’Arte Contemporanea di Ginevra. Nel 2014 ha realizzato il suo primo lungometraggio, Fort Buchanan. Nel 2017, il suo Division Movement to Vungtau fa parte del concorso Queer Short durante la settima edizione del Sicilia Queer filmfest.

After studying painting at Yale, Benjamin Crotty moved to France where he began his career as an artist and film maker at Le Fresnoy - National Studio of Contemporary Arts. His work has been shown in festivals such as Locarno, Rotterdam and Lisbon, and in institutions such as the Tate Modern, the Palais de Tokyo in Paris and the Center of Contemporary Art in Geneva. In 2014 he made his first feature film, Fort Buchanan. In 2017, his Division Movement to Vungtau is in competition for the Queer Short Award during the 7th edition of the Sicilia Queer filmfest.
