Può essere difficile venire a contatto con la propria identità, molti sono gli ostacoli che il nostro io deve superare per esprimere se stesso con pienezza, che siano interiori o derivanti dalla famiglia, dalla comunità e società in cui si vive. In Eigentlich ist sie mein kleiner Bruder Lena Lobers affronta la ricerca dell’identità di genere, partendo da una riflessione sulla sua sorellina, che biologicamente è nata maschio. Il film apre piccoli squarci sulla vita delle persone transgender e su chi gli sta vicino, della lotta solitaria che la decisione di essere se stessi comporta e del coraggio che richiede. Lotta per un futuro, un corpo e un nome in cui potersi riconoscere e vivere, per accettare i propri desideri e il proprio modo di essere nonostante tutto.

It can be difficult to deal with our own identity, there are many obstacles that our ego has to get through to fully express itself, whether they are interior or originate from the family, the community and society in which they live. In Eigentlich ist sie mein kleiner Bruder Lena Lobers deals with the search of gender identity, starting from a reflection on her little sister, who was biologically born as a male. This movie brings us into small excerpts of the life of transgenders and of the people that are close to them: it talks about the solitary struggle that is entailed in being ourselves, about the courage it takes; a struggle for a future, a body and a name to recognize ourselves in, a struggle to accept our desires and the way we are, in spite of everything.

Sono due registe e giornaliste televisive di Hannover. Entrambe lavorano sia come autrici che come operatrici. Durante il loro corso di laurea di Media Design, sezione film, cominciano già a ideare cortometraggi, documentari, video musicali e sperimentali. Hanno affinato le loro capacità di giornaliste con un master in giornalismo televisivo. Terminano gli studi con il loro film di debutto, Eigentlich ist sie mein kleiner Bruder. Poco dopo, nel maggio 2018, segue il film Hygge - Happiness Export, sponsorizzato da Normedia. Durante l’autunno producono il loro primo film per la televisione per conto di the BOX: 7Days ... in a kiosk

They are filmmakers and TV journalists from Hanover. Both work as authors and camera women. During their bachelor degree in Media Design, Department Film, they already created short films, documentary films, music videos and experimental films. They extended their journalistic skills in their master degree in television journalism. They finished their studies with the debut film Actually she is my little brother. After that the film Hygge - Happiness Export followed in May 2018. It was sponsored by Nordmedia. In autumn 2018 they produced their first TV movie for the NDR on behalf of the BOX: 7Days ... in a kiosk.
