Negli anni 2000 Berlino è diventata il polo d’attrazione della cultura europea. Da Mitte a Kreuzberg, guidati da una narratrice lucida e tenera, siamo invitati a calarci nel mondo fragile dei Berlin Based, artisti di ogni sorta che hanno scelto di trasferirsi lì, nei quartieri di una città satura di storia in cui tutto sembrava ancora possibile.
Tra mitologie berlinesi e precarietà degli artisti nell’epoca dell’ipercapitalismo, il ritratto di una città ancora oggi appassionante e una meditazione sulla condizione del lavoro culturale oggi.

During all the 2000 Berlin became the center of attraction of Europe culture. From Mitte to Kreuzberg, led by a tender and lucid narrator, we are invited to descend upon the fragile world of the Berlin Based, artists of any kind who decided to move there, in certain areas of a city saturated by history in which everything seemed still possible.
Through Berlin mythologies and artists’s precariousness in the age of ipercapitalism, the portrait of a city even today fascinating and a meditation about today’s condition of cultural work.

Dopo la laurea in Storia dell’Arte, frequenta l’Istituto di Studi Cinematografici di Parigi. Ha vissuto a Roma e poi a New York. Il suo primo film Rome Désolée, un documentario autobiografico, ha vinto numerosi premi. Tra i suoi lavori più importanti Bonne Nouvelle (2002) e Jaurès (2012), vincitore del Teddy Award alla Berlinale del 2012. Tra i suoi ultimi lavori per il cinema il documentario girato in Sicilia Orlando ferito (2013), che fa parte della trilogia Films d’Europe insieme a Leçons de Ténèbres (2000) e Mon Voyage d’Hiver (2003). È stato autore del trailer della terza edizione del Sicilia Queer filmfest.

After graduating in Art History, he enrolled in the Institute for Advanced Cinematographic Studies in Paris. He lived first in Rome, then in New York. His first film, Rome Désolée, an autobiographical documentary, won various awards. Among his most significant works, Bonne Nouvelle (2002) and Jaurès (2012), that won the Teddy Award in Berlin Film Festival in 2012. Among his latest works for cinema, the documentary Roland blessé (2013) was shot in Sicily and is part of the Films d’Europe trilogy, together with Leçons de Ténèbres (2000) and Mon Voyage d’Hiver (2003). He created the trailer for the third edition of the Sicilia Queer filmfest.
