Parigi, estate 1979. Anne, una produttrice di film porno di serie B, affronta i suoi mali esistenziali annegandoli nell’alcol. Quando Lois, sua compagna da oltre dieci anni, la lascia, Anne sprofonda nella disperazione. Per riconquistarla si getta a capofitto nel lavoro con l’obiettivo di realizzare il suo film più ambizioso di sempre. Un evento inaspettato è però destinato a sconvolgere i suoi piani: durante le riprese uno degli attori viene trovato morto, dopo essere stato brutalmente assassinato. Anne decide allora di mettersi sulle tracce dell’ignoto killer, ma questi sembra non accontentarsi di un unico omicidio. Via via che le morti si susseguono, Anne si ritrova così coinvolta in un’indagine che stravolgerà la sua vita. Presentato in concorso al Festival di Cannes, è un film dallo stile visivo fantasmagorico, che coniugando efficacemente voyerismo e humour, cinefilia e suspense, rappresenta uno degli esperimenti più interessanti e discussi del cinema Queer contemporaneo.
Paris, summer 1979. The third-rate porn movies producer Anne drowns her existential sorrows in alcohol. After her long-standing companion Lois leaves her, she sinks in despair. She then tries to win her back by immersing herself into work in order to make her most ambitious film ever. However, an unexpected event is going to upset her plans. During the filming, one of her actors is brutally murdered. Anne resolves to get on the unknown killer’s trail, but the killer doesn’t seem to be content with a single murder. As the deaths follow one another, Anne gets caught up in a strange investigation that turns her life upside-down. Presented in competition at the 71 Cannes Film Festival and shot using a phantasmagoric visual style, is a film which successfully combines voyeurism and humour, cinephilia and suspense, and represents one of the most interesting and controversial experiments in contemporary Queer cinema.
Yann Gonzalez
Nato nel 1977, è stato critico cinematografico per le riviste Max, Têtu e Chronic’Art. Ha collaborato con il gruppo di musica elettronica M83 del fratello Anthony. Il suo primo cortometraggio, By the Kiss (2006), è stato selezionato in diversi festival internazionali, compresa la Quinzaine des Réalisateurs del 2006. Successivamente, ha diretto anche altri cortometraggi, tra cui Entracte (2007) e Land of My Dreams (2012). Il suo primo lungometraggio, Les rencontres d’après minuit (2013), è stato presentato alla Semaine de la Critique a Cannes. Con lo stesso film è stato ospite della quarta edizione del Sicilia Queer Film Festival.
Born in 1977, he worked as a film critic for Max, Têtu and Chronic’Art. He also collaborated with his brother Anthony’s electronic music band M83. His firs short film, By the Kiss (2006), was selected in several international film festivals, including 2006 Directors’ Fortnight. He also directed other short films, including Entracte (2007) and Land of My Dreams (2012). His first feature, You and the Night (2013), was presented at the Semaine de la Critique in Cannes and was screened at the Sicilia Queer Film Festival 2014.
