Molte storie d’amore all’inizio appaiono impossibili: alcune poi si realizzano, altre restano tali. In quasi tutte però, anche in quelle senza speranza, arriva un momento in cui si presenta una possibilità e si apre uno spiraglio per cui sembra che l’amore possa trovare un riscontro reale. È quello che succede a Elsie, donna delle pulizie di una scuola superiore che si innamora di Luca, una giovane studentessa, che non si è mai accorta di lei. Grazie a un telefono dimenticato, la donna avrà l’occasione di entrare in contatto con la ragazza e di manifestarle, in maniera anonima, il proprio interesse per lei.

At the beginning many love stories seem impossible: some of them come true, some others remain impossible. But in almost every love story, even the hopeless ones, there comes a time when an opportunity arises and love appears to have the chance to be fulfilled. That is what happens to Elsie, a high-school cleaning lady who falls in love with Luca, a young female student who had never noticed her. Thanks to a forgotten cell phone, the woman will have the chance to get in contact with the girl and to somehow show her her true feelings.

Nata nel 1990, la regista ungherese Hajini Kis si dedica alla recitazione prima di passare allo studio della cinematografia e della filosofia presso l’università Pázmány Péter. Viene accettata all’università di Cinema e Teatro di Budapest dove attualmente sta studiando regia. Durante il suo primo anno realizza due corti a carattere documentario, Beauties e 2nd Floor. Quest’ultimo ha vinto cinque premi, incluso quello del pubblico tributatogli dal CinEast - Festival di Cinema dell’Europa Centrale ed Orientale. Beautiful Figure, presentato come cortometraggio d’esame del secondo anno, è stato nominato per lo Student Academy Awards nel 2016, primo film ungherese dal 1994 ad ora. Inoltre è già stato selezionato in molti festival internazionali, come l’International Short Film Week di Regensburg e il BFI Flare, il London LGBT Film Festival.

Born in 1990, Hungarian director Hajni Kis first studied acting before moving on to cinema and philosophy studies at Pázmány Péter University. She got accepted in the University of Theatre and Film Arts of Budapest in 2013, where she currently studies film directing. In her first year, she made two short documentaries Beauties and 2nd Floor. The latter won five awards, including the audience award at CinEast - Central and Eastern European Film Festival in Luxembourg. Beautiful Figure, presented as her exam film of the second year, was the first Hungarian film since 1994 to be nominated for the Student Academy Awards in 2016. Moreover, it has already been selected in several international festivals, such as Short Film Week in Regensburg, BFI Flare and the London LGBT Film Festival.
