Mentre il presidente degli Stati Uniti Barack Obama, tra un tweet e una ricerca su Google, ordina il bombardamento di un campo nomadi in Afghanistan, l’ambasciatrice francese Giselle con la figlia Cleo si reca presso il campo nomadi per avviare una trattativa di disarmo con il capo tribù. Nel frattempo Mal Faq’tar, spinto dalla madre Bibi Ayesha, cerca di rapire e violentare la principessa Cher, figlia del capo tribù. Le vicende prenderanno una piega inaspettata fino a un finale surreale. A metà tra una parodia dei film di spionaggio e una commedia degli equivoci, Ennui Ennui mette in scena con tono grottesco e sempre ironico, una satira nei confronti del delirio ideologico della società moderna sferrando colpi a destra e a manca senza risparmiare nessuno.

While US President Barack Obama orders the bombing of a nomad camp in Afghanistan, in between a tweet and a search on Google, French Ambassador Giselle goes with her daughter Cleo to the nomad camp to start a disarmament deal with the tribal leader. Meanwhile, Mal Faq'tar, driven by his mother Bibi Ayesha, tries to abduct and rape Princess Cher, daughter of the tribal leader. The events will take an unexpected turn until reaching a surreal ending. Halfway between a parody of spy movies and a comedy of errors, Ennui Ennui stages with a grotesque and always ironic tone, a satire against the ideological delirium of modern society, landing blows over the place without saving anyone.

Gabriel Abrantes, nato in North Carolina nel 1984, è un artista e filmmaker che ha prodotto un significativo numero di film dall'inizio dei suoi studi presso L’École National des Beaux-Arts (2005-2006) e Le Fresnoy – Studio National des Arts Contemporains, Francia (2007). Nel 2013 il suo corto Zwazo è stato proiettato al Festival di Rotterdam e Ennui ennui ha avuto la prima mondiale al Festival di Roma. Taprobana è stato mostrato in anteprima mondiale nella sezione dei corti in competizione della Berlinale del 2014. Molti dei suoi film sono realizzati in collaborazione con altri artisti e filmmaker come Daniel Schmidt, Benjamin Crotty e Ben Rivers. Attualmente insegna cinema alla Haute Ecole d'Art et Design a Ginevra.Il suo primo lungometraggio, Tristes Monroes, co-diretto con Daniel Schmidt, è una screwball comedy ambientata in una Haiti post-terremoto.

Gabriel Abrantes was born in North Carolina in 1984. He is an artist and filmmaker who has produced a significant number of films since he started studying at L’École National des Beaux-Arts (2005-2006) and Le Fresnoy-Studio National des Arts Contemporains, France (2007). In 2013 Zwazo was shown in Rotterdam and Ennui ennui had its world premiere at the Rome Festival. Taprobana world premiered at the 2014 Berlin International Film festival in the short competition section. Many of his films are made in collaboration with other artists and filmmakers such as Daniel Schmidt, Benjamin Crotty, and Ben Rivers. He currently teaches cinema at the Haute Ecole d'Art et Design in Geneva. His first feature film, Tristes Monroes, co-directed with Daniel Schmidt, is a screwball comedy set in post-earthquake Haiti.
