Nessuno parla più di Howard Brookner. Eppure, negli anni 70, questo giovane e promettente regista era riuscito a raccontare una New York in pieno fermento artistico girando un documentario sull’emblematica figura di William Burroughs. Nel 1989 però, all’inizio di quella che sembrava una promettente carriera, Howard muore di AIDS. 25 anni dopo, il nipote Aaron, grazie all’aiuto di Jim Jarmush, trova un immenso archivio seppellito nel famoso bunker di Burroughs e, con esso, il ricordo di suo zio. Uncle Howard è un film nostalgico, allo stesso tempo testamento di un artista e passaggio di testimone tra due generazioni. Un film che parla dell’amore per il cinema e per l’arte, panacea capace di curare qualsiasi malattia e sconfiggere perfino la morte.

Nobody talks about Howard Brookner anymore. However, in the 70s, this young e promising director succeded to talk about a New York in a full artistic turmoil, shooting a documentary about the emblematic figure of William Burroughs. Unfortunately in 1989, at the beginning of a promising career, Howard dies of AIDS. 25 years later, his nephew Aaron, thanks to the help of Him Jarmush, discovers an enormous archive buried inside the renowned Burroughs bunker and, with that, his uncle memory. Uncle Howard is a nostalgic movie, an artist will and a passing of the baton beetween two generation at the same time. A movie that talks about the love for cinema and art, a panacea ables to cure any diseases, defeating even death itself.

Aaron Brookner è uno scrittore e regista di New York. Il suo primo lungometraggio, The Silver Goat (2011), è stato creato esclusivamente per gli iPad ed è stato scaricato in 24 paesi. Precedentemente, Brookner ha diretto prodotti collegati con la musica e il cortometraggi documentaristico vincitore di numero premi dal titolo The Black Cowboys (2004). Nel 2011 si è imbarcato nella rimasterizzazione dell’archivio di Howard Brookner, iniziando da Burroughs: The Movie. Nel 2014, Brookner ha creato una video installazione a Londra. Uncle Howard è il suo primo lungomentraggio documentaristico.

Aaron Brookner is a writer/director from New York. His first feature film, The Silver Goat (2011), was created exclusively for the iPad and downloaded in 24 countries. Previously, Brookner directed music related content and the award-winning short documentary The Black Cowboys (2004). In 2011 he embarked on the remastering of Howard Brookner's archive, starting with Burroughs: The Movie. In 2014, Brookner created a video installation in London. Uncle Howard is his first feature-length documentary.
