Filip è un bambino di sette anni che vive con la madre e suo fratello maggiore Sebastian, che ammira più di chiunque altro: i due trascorrono il loro tempo libero insieme, guardando la tv e giocando a calcio. Filip però è anche il nome del migliore amico di suo fratello, con il quale i ragazzi passano spesso molte ore insieme. Dopo avere scoperto che Sebastian e il “Grande” Filip, come lo chiama il bambino, sono più che amici, Filip non sa come affrontare la situazione. Sarà così costretto, suo malgrado, a rimettere in questione l’ammirazione per il fratello e a considerare sotto una luce nuova il significato della parola “gay”, sentita usare come un insulto nel cortile della scuola.

Filip is a seven years old child who lives with his mother and his older brother Sebastian. He admires him most of all: during their spare time they watch movies and play football. But Filip is also the name of his brother best friend, with whom they often hang out together. After discovering that Sebastian and “Big” Filip, as the child call him, are more than friends, Filip doesn't know how to handle it. He will be forced to question his admiration for the brother as well as the meaning the word ”gay” as an insult in the playground at school.

Nata in Svezia nel 1988 e cresciuta in Costa Rica, Nathalie Álvarez Mesén fa ritorno al suo paese natale per studiare cinematografia, recitazione e sceneggiatura. Attualmente sta completando i suoi studi in regia presso la Columbia University e nel contempo, è impegnata nella creazione del suo primo lungometraggio, Clara Sola, che sarà il risultato di una co-produzione tra Svezia e Colombia. Gli ultimi corti della regista sono stati mostrati in anteprima fra il 2015 e il 2016. Asunder è stato proiettato al Telliride Film Festival 2016 ed è stato premiato dalla giuria internazionale dello Shnit International Film Festival a San José. Filip (2015) è stato recentemente premiato come Best Live-Action Film sotto i 15 minuti per la categoria non studenti al Palm Springs Shortfest ed ha fatto il giro di festival prestigiosi come quello di Oberhausen, di Los Angeles e di New Orleans.

Born in Sweden in 1988 but grew up in Costa Rica, Nathalie Álvarez Mesén moved back to Sweden to study film, acting and screenwriting. She is currently finishing her MFA degree in Film Directing at Columbia University while working on the development of her first feature film, Clara Sola, a co-production between Sweden and Colombia. Nathalie’s latest short films were premiered in 2015-16. Her short Asunder (2015) screened at the Telliride Film Festival 2016 and won the Jury’s prize in the Shnit International Film Festival in Playgrounds San José. Filip (2015) was recently awarded Best Live-Action Film under 15 minutes in the Non-student category in Palm Springs Shortfest and has screened in prestigious festivals such as Oberhausen, LA Film Festival, Hamptons, New Orleans, amongst others.
