Jake è un ragazzino di tredici anni da poco trasferitosi con i suoi genitori a Brooklyn nella casa lasciata in eredità dal nonno appena morto. Nel nuovo quartiere Jake incontrerà Tony, un ragazzino della sua stessa età di origini cilene, con il quale stringerà una forte amicizia condividendo il sogno di entrare alla scuola di arte e recitazione LaGuardia di Manhattan. La loro amicizia procederà spensierata, piena di scoperte e giochi fino a quando un diverbio economico tra le famiglie dei due condizionerà il loro rapporto. Little men, o i tormenti del giovane Jake, racconta la scoperta del desiderio da parte di un ragazzino alle soglie dell’adolescenza, un delicato racconto di formazione affidato alla dolcezza dei due interpreti che restituiscono con spontaneità e leggerezza l’inquietudine della loro età.

Jake is a thirteen-year-old boy who recently moved with his parents in Brooklyn in the house inherited from his grandfather who just died. In this new district Jake will meet Tony, a boy his own age of Chilean origins, with whom he will make friends by sharing the dream of entering the LaGuardia Art and acting school of Manhattan. Their carefree friendship would pursue, full of discoveries and fun right until an economic dispute between the families of the two will affect their relationship. Little men, or the torments of young Jake, tells the story of a boy at the threshold of adolescence who discovers desire, a delicate coming-of-age story entrusted to the sweetness of the two interpreters that return with spontaneity and lightness the restlessness of their age.

Nato a Memphis (Tennessee) il 21 novembre del 1965, Ira Sachs si è laureato in Lettere e Teoria del Cinema presso la Yale University. Una volta trasferitosi a New York, inizia la sua carriera da regista e sceneggiatore; il suo primo lavoro è il cortometraggio The Lady (1993), al quale seguono The Delta (1997), Forty Shades of Blue (2005), Arsenico e vecchi confetti (2007), Keep the Lights On (2012), I toni dell’amore (2014). Little Men è stato presentato al Sundance nel 2016, mentre il racconto semi-autobiografico Keep the Lights On ha vinto il Teddy Award al Festival di Berlino 2012.

Born in Memphis (Tennessee) on November 21st 1965, Ira Sachs graduated in Literature and Film Theory studies at Yale University. After moving to New York, he began his career as a director and screenwriter. His first work is the short film The Lady (1993), which was followed by The Delta (1997), Forty Shades of Blue (2005), Married Life (2007), Keep the Lights On (2012) and Love is Strange (2014). His latest feature film, Little Men, was presented at the 2016 Sundance film festival, while the semi-autobiographical story Keep the Lights On won the Teddy Award at the 2012 Berlin Film Festival.
