Raya, Youssef e Rawad sono amici di lunga data, ma negli ultimi dieci anni sono stati in giro per il mondo e adesso si ritrovano dopo tanto tempo nella casa al mare di Raya. Anche Leila, la sorella di Raya, dopo la serata passata a cantare alla festa organizzata nella stessa casa si ritrova con loro a trascorrere una notte fatta di scontri, provocazioni e confidenze in cui le loro identità e le loro storie personali si intrecciano con le storie politiche del Libano. The Beach House mette in scena un complesso intreccio di dinamiche di desiderio, svela con maestria i segreti dei suoi protagonisti per trasformare un incontro un po’ casuale in un momento di crescita e di consapevolezza.

Raya, Youssef and Rawad have been friends for a long time but during the last ten years they have been around the world and now they gather together, after a long time, at Raya’s beach house. Also Leila, Raya’s sister, after spending the evening singing at the party organized in the same house, ends up with them spending a night of clashes, provocations and secrets where their identities, their personal stories interweave with the political stories of Lebanon. The beach house puts on stage a complex interlacement of desire dynamics, masterfully unveils the secrets of its main characters in order to transform a meeting which was a little bit casual in a moment of growth and awareness.

Nato nel 1983, Roy Dib è un artista e filmmaker che vive e lavora a Beirut, Libano. Il suo lavoro si focalizza sulle costruzioni soggettive dello spazio. Il suo ultimo cortometraggio Mondial 2010(2014) ha vinto numerosi premi tra cui il Teddy Award per il miglior cortometraggio alla 64° Berlinale, miglior cortometraggio a Queer Lisboa, il Gran Premio Uppsala al Festival del cortometraggio di Uppsala e il premio Queer Short al Sicilia Queer filmfest 2015. La sua ultima video installazione, A Spectacle of Privacy, ha debuttato al Beirut Art Center nel 2015 ed è stata presentata al Forum Expanded della Berlinale del 2015, a Queer Porto 1 (2015), Images Festival a Toronto (2016) e ha vinto un premio al Festival di arte contemporanea SESC_Videobrasil (2015). The Beach House (2016) è il suo primo lungometraggio.

Born in 1983, Roy Dib is an artist and filmmaker that works and lives in Beirut, Lebanon. His work focuses on the subjective constructions of space. His latest short film Mondial 2010 (2014) won several awards including the Teddy Award for the Best Short Film at the 64th Berlinale, Best Short Film at Queer Lisboa International Film Festival, the Uppsala Grand Prix at Uppsala International Short Film Festival, and the Queer Short award at Sicilia Queer filmfest 2015. His latest video installation, A Spectacle of Privacy, debuted at the Exposure 2015 show at the Beirut Art Center and then featured at the Berlinale’s 2015 Forum Expanded, Queer Porto 1 (2015), Images Festival in Toronto (2016), and won an award at the Contemporary Art Festival SESC_Videobrasil (2015). The Beach House (Beit El Baher – 2016) is Roy Dib’s first narrative long feature film.
