Naomie e Maxime si incontrano in un parco un assolato pomeriggio d’estate. È il loro primo appuntamento, e timidi silenzi scandiscono il loro vagare tra i sentieri poco battuti. Pian piano, pudicamente, si avvicinano, si accarezzano, si innamorano. Non servono a molto le parole tra i prati erbosi sfiorati dal sole, tra due giovani uniti dal desiderio. Ma col calare del sole arriva il momento di salutarsi, si scioglie l’incantesimo, e quello che era sembrato un dolce sogno si tramuta lentamente in un incubo. Le parc è una fiaba moderna che rievoca la potenza del cinema muto per parlare di temi quali l’adolescenza, la scoperta del desiderio e della sessualità e l’incomunicabilità ai tempi dei social media, giocando col cinema di genere ed i suoi linguaggi.

Naomie and Maxime meet each others a sunny summer afternoon in a park. It is their first date and shy silences articulate their wander between the few frequented paths. They slowly, modestly, move closer, caress each other, fall in love. Words don’t help on the grassy field touched by the sun, between two kids joined by desire. But as the sun goes down the moment to say goodbye arrive, the spell undo, and what was seemed like a sweet dream slowly turns into a nightmare. Le parc is a modern tale that recall the power of silent cinema to talk about themes as the adolescence, the discovery of desire and sexuality and the incommunicability in social media era, playing with cinema genres and its languages.

Damien Manivel (1981, Francia) ha lavorato come ballerino e artista di circo contemporaneo. Parallelamente al suo lavoro da performer ha girato diversi cortometraggi. Il suo corto La dame au chien (2010) è stato selezionato nel 2011 per il Tiger Award al festival di Rotterdam ed ha vinto il Premio Jean Vigo lo stesso anno. Il suo ultimo corto, Un dimanche matin, è stato selezionato nel 2012 a La Semaine de la Critique di Cannes ed ha vinto il Nikon Discovery Award. Nel 2015 ha esordito nel lungometraggio con Un jeune poète. Le Parc è il suo secondo lungometraggio, e ha partecipato all’ACID-selection al Festival di Cannes.

Damien Manivel (1981, France) has worked as a dancer and contemporary circus artist. In parallel to his job as a performer he has been making short films. His short The Lady with the dog (2010) has been selected for the 2011 Tiger Awards competition in Rotterdam and won the Jean Vigo Prize the same year. His latest short, A Sunday Morning was selected at the 2012 edition of La Semaine de la Critique in Cannes and won the Nikon Discovery Award. His first feature film, A Young Poet, was released in 2015. In 2016, he was part of the ACID-selection in Cannes with The Park, his second feature film.
