Nuits blanches sur la jetée

Un nottambulo passeggia ogni sera sul molo di un porto dove trascorre il suo anno sabbatico. Incontra lì una giovane donna in attesa dell'uomo della sua vita. Passa quattro notti reali e immaginate con lei, parlando della vita, e si rende conto che si sta innamorando di questa donna. Ma l'amante atteso finalmente arriva. Ispirato a Le notti bianche di Dostoevskij, Nuits blanches sur la jetée racconta il celebre romanzo, già raccontato al cinema da Visconti e Bresson, con il tocco leggero di un grande e navigato autore. Uno sguardo profondo e innamorato sui due protagonisti, sulle dinamiche relazionali che compongono il film in di un gioco di luci e ombre dove i fantasmi affiorano dalla notte.
A nightbird takes a walk every night on the pier in a harbour where he spends its sabbatical. He meets there a young woman waiting for the man of her life. He passes four nights, both real and fantasized, with her talking about life, and he realizes he is falling for this woman. But the expected lover finally arrives. Inspired by Dostoevskij's White Nights, Nuits blanches sur la jetée narrates the famous novel, already narrated by Visconti and Bresson, with the light touch of a great and mature author. A deep and loving look over the two protagonists, on the relationship dynamics that compose the movie in a game of lights and shadows where ghosts emerge from the night.

Nato ad Ajaccio nel 1930, è uno dei più importanti registi del cinema francese. All’interno della sua vasta produzione, classica e sperimentale al tempo stesso, vale la pena ricordare Femmes femmes (1974) e Corps a cœur (1979), entrambi presentati nel corso della terza edizione del Sicilia Queer alla presenza del regista. Tra i suoi film più recenti Faux Accords (2013) e i cortometraggi La cérémonie e Just Married (quest’ultimo è il trailer della quarta edizione del Sicilia Queer), entrambi del 2014 e interpretati da Astrid Adverbe e Pascal Cervo, come Nuits blanches sur la jetée presentato nello stesso anno al festival di Locarno.
Born in Ajaccio in 1930, he is one of the most important French directors. Within his wide production, at the same time classical and experimental, it is worth remembering Femmes femmes (1974) and Corps a cœur (1979), both presented during the third edition of Sicilia Queer in the director’s presence. Among his latest movies Faux Accords (2013) and the shorts La cérémonie and Just Married (the latter is the trailer of the Sicilia Queer 4th edition), both of 2014 and performed by Astrid Adverbe and Pascal Cervo, like Nuits blanches sur la jetée presented the same year to Locarno Film Festival.
