Dovrebbe essere un idillico seppur melanconico weekend. Anna e Stefan, Bernd e Marc, due coppie di amici, passano qualche giorno in campagna. La miniera di carbone a cielo aperto in continua espansione, che presto inghiottirà il paese, i suoi boschi e i suoi prati, li riporta a casa. Il posto è quasi deserto, la scuola in rovina, perfino le tombe sono state riesumate e messe a riposare da un'altra parte. Tuttavia le due coppie si godono il soggiorno. Ma il ritorno a casa sembra avere un effetto minaccioso su Anna. Lei e Bernd sono perseguitati da incubi, le realtà cominciano a cambiare. Come se non bastasse, Stefan è attratto dalla relazione poliamorosa dei due altri uomini – una verità usata da Marc per fare dei giochetti mentali con Anna, che sente che la sua vita ben strutturata sta andando fuori controllo...
It's supposed to be an idyllic, although melancholy weekend. Anna and Stefan, Bernd and Marc – two couples – spend a few days in the countryside. The ever -expanding open-cast coal mining operation, which will soon be swallowing the village, its woods and meadows, brings them back home. The place is almost deserted, the schoolhouse in ruins, even the graves have been exhumed and laid to rest elsewhere. Still, they're enjoying their visit. But coming back home seems to have a menacing effect on Anna. She and Bernd are haunted by nightmares, realities begin to shift. On top of that, Stefan is attracted by the polyamorous relationship of the two other men – a fact used by Marc to play mind games with Anna. She feels her well-structured life slipping out of control...
Florian Gottschick
Nato nel 1981 a Francoforte/Main, ha studiato regia alla Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen (HFF) "Knrad Wolf" Potsdam-Babelsberg (ora: Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf). Durante i suoi studi ha realizzato molti dei suoi stessi film e ha lavorato come regista per produzioni cinematografiche e televisive. Nachthelle è stato il suo progetto di laurea. Tra i suoi altri lavori ricordiamo: Breaking Light (2008), Artisten (2012) e la serie TV Ein neuer Fall für Laubmann (2012). Il suo ultimo film, Fucking Berlin,è attualmente in lavorazione.
Born 1981 in Frankfurt/Main, he studied film directing at the Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen (HFF) “Konrad Wolf„ Potsdam-Babelsberg (now: Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf). Before that and during his studies he realized many of his own films and worked as a director for TV and cinema productions. Bright Night is his graduation film. Other works: Breaking Light (2008), Artisten (2012) and the TV series Ein neuer Fall für Laubmann (2012). His new work, Fucking Berlin, is now in preparation.
