Durante gli anni '70, Christian Braad Thomsen girò delle interviste mai pubblicate al più prolifico regista della storia del cinema: Rainer Werner Fassbinder. Tenuta insieme dai ricordi dell'amico, la complicata e ambivalente figura del regista tedesco ci verrà raccontata tramite le testimonianze di familiari e amici cari. L'infanzia, i sogni, la carriera, l'amore, la psicoanalisi, il matrimonio, la follia, la morte. Mettendo a nudo la vita di Fassbinder, il film non solo svela l'uomo dietro al personaggio ma indaga anche su quanto la storia possa influenzare la vita di una singola persona. Presentato nella sezione Panorama della 65esima edizione del festival di Berlino, un ritratto appassionato e coinvolgente del grande regista tedesco.
During the 70s, Christian Braad Thomsen shot some unpublished interviews to the most productive director in the history of cinema: Rainer Werner Fassbinder. Bound together by his friend's memories, the complex and bivalent figure of the German director will be told through the statements of his relatives and close friends. Childhood, dreams, career, love, psychoanalysis, marriage, madness, death. Baring Fassbinder's life, the movie reveals not only the man behind the character but also investigates how much history can influence the life of a single person. Presented in the Panorama section of the 65th Berlinale edition, it is a passionate and moving portrait of the great German director.
Christian Braad Thomsen
Nato il 10 dicembre 1940 a Bjertrup, Jylannd, Danimarca. Ha frequentato la Danish Film School diplomandosi nel 1969. È un regista e scrittore, conosciuto per Ladies on the Rocks (1983), Herfra min verden går (1976) e The Blue Munken (1998). È stato direttore dell’Odense International Film Festival dal 1997 al 2005.
He was born on December 10th, 1940 in Bjertrup, Jylland, Denmark. He attended the Danish Film School and he graduated in 1969. He is a director and writer, known for Koks i kulissen (1983), Herfra min verden går (1976) and Den blå munk (1998). He was the director of the Odense International Film Festival from 1997 to 2005.
